Hour 2 - Knicks Losses Prompt Trade Talk, Peter's Fast Food Loves, Jets Solutions
20 Jan 2026
Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
It's the Boomer and Geo podcast from WFAN. Boomer and Geo coming to you live from the Bill Ford Tough Studio on the fan and CBS Sports Network. The Red Pocket Mobile fan line brought to you by your new ultimate cell carrier. Red Pocket Mobile, 888-808-1019. The number to join the show and the Knicks and where they're at right now.
I think it is time for real concern and thoughts about doing something about the roster. And I know that people say just regular season and this is a slump. Happens to everybody. Don't worry about it. No. They have lost 9 of 11, and it's how they're losing and how they look that is the biggest problem.
And I heard Frank Isola, who was on a podcast that popped up in my socials, talking about how he believes that ever since Carl Anthony Towns heard about the rumors of Giannis and how he would have to go in that deal, that that has affected him.
That he is like, you brought me here to be the man, I get you to the conference finals, I'm part of this team, and now all of a sudden it's not good enough, and you're trying to trade me for Giannis, and that the guy that Karl-Anthony Townsend is would be very affected by that. I said it at the end of last year that I don't think you win a championship with Carl Anthony Towns.
It's going to take a hell of a lot because there's going to have to be other teams involved, draft picks that the Knicks don't have. But there are two things that are in the Knicks' favor to get this thing done. One is that Giannis wants to play here. And that always is a huge factor when it comes to the NBA and their superstars, where these guys want to go.

Chapter 2: What are the Knicks' recent struggles and trade rumors?
They usually end up in those places. And he feels, and that whole situation feels like it's done in Milwaukee. The other side of this is that the Knicks are desperate. This is their window. They fired their coach last year to get to the next step. The next step is the NBA Finals and a championship. And it's not working right now.
And Carl Anthony Towns is doing the same crap that he's been doing since he's been here that is not winning basketball.
What you mean?
What you mean? What I mean, Carl Anthony Towns, is that you're laying on your back. You're committing stupid fouls. You're talking about how you don't fit into the system. You get bullied by the bigger and better players on good teams in the Eastern Conference. You're not winning a championship with this guy. Oh, my God.
sorry cat oh yeah he's averaging a double double and uh last night another 18 rebound night not not a bad shoot just a terrible shooting night by the knicks overall and their defense was horrendous as dallas outshot them at the three-point line but there was a guy by the name of joey sakoa who posted on x joey sakoa yeah ever since james owen went into uh on his interview to the cred carton live show that's what we call the show here right is it
The Carton Show?
It's called the Carton Show, not the Craig Carton Live Show. Okay.
Well, he still has Craig Carton Live. Okay.

Chapter 3: How has Karl-Anthony Towns' performance been affected by trade talks?
I don't know. Is that his podcast, Al? It is. Okay. So, anyway, both the Knicks and the Rangers have been a complete nosedive. He's right. It's been a dumpster fire both for the Knicks and Rangers. They're working on the culture with both teams. And, you know, this team is a very likable team.
There was a point in time early in the season where Carl Anthony Towns told us that he wasn't really sure how he fit into the system. And then they went on a little bit of a run when they got everybody healthy and everybody was playing well. And then to be realistic about this whole thing, they've had a number of kind of like just weird injuries over the last month.
You know, Josh Hart here, Jalen Brunson there, you know, a few guys missing. You know, it's just... It's just been bad. And, you know, they're not tied together playing defense. They're not shooting well. And now they're in the midst of this four-game losing streak. And the trade deadline is fast approaching because it is February 5th. And what is it, the 17th right now?
Or the 20th, the 20th of January. So decisions are going to have to be made as to whether or not, you know, Jim Dolan saying to Craig Carton that we're raising a championship banner and we like the team that we have. That's exactly what he said sitting in my chair.
Oh, they weren't in the studio. No, they weren't in the studio, yeah. But while he was here, but things have changed since then.
Things have changed in a big way. When was that? That was like, so Craig started on, what, January 5th?
Yes, January 5th, and that's where it came in.
That's 15 days ago, and think about what has happened over the last 15 days to the two teams that occupy Madison Square Garden.
Yeah, I mean, you have one who sends out the letter saying that they're retooling and you're going to be trading guys and to expect that, and another one now that has had their worst stretch ever. of the season by far. And this was as bad as it gets. Martin Luther King Day, they always play on. MLK Day, they're getting booed by their own fans. Cooper Flagg, I understand, is a great young talent.

Chapter 4: What factors could influence the Knicks' trade decisions?
And you got this other guy moping around all the time.
So, I mean, the Dallas Mavericks are 18-26, 5-14 on the road, and they lose to the Mavericks on MLK Day at Madison Square Garden. And got booed off the floor by their own fans. And your entire team is out there. Everybody's healthy. Yep. And then, you know, Josh Hart says after the game, it was embarrassing. How many times has he said that this year?
I think the word embarrassing has showed up at least like 10 times this year.
Yeah, and I remember Josh Hart talking last year when things weren't going great about people being selfish and we have to play as a team and not worry about us as individuals. Everybody assumed he was talking about towns then. You can read into Josh Hart's comments and figure out what's going on in that locker room. You can't let this thing slip away in a year. This is supposed to be their year.
You always talk about the Bills and Josh Allen and no Mahomes and no this. That's what we're talking about the Knicks going into this year. No Halliburton. No Jason Tatum. Yeah, the Cavs are good and the Pistons are good and whatever, but, I mean, come on. This is supposed to be you guys.
Well, the other thing, too, is that you have, I mean, literally two fan bases that are about as passionate as any fan bases are about their teams that play in that building. And, you know, the fan base for the Knicks over the last three or four years, you know, we've all loved this team.
We've all been, you know, behind this team, especially when, you know, a couple years ago when they got hurt and they were playing the Indiana Pacers. And, you know, they were fighting, you know, tooth and nail until game six at home and they lose it. And everybody gave them the standing ovation.
You know, now here we are, you add superstars, you spend money, you make big trades, and now all of a sudden the expectations are turning into booze. And that's happening to the hockey team as well. And they are probably the top three most expensive ticket for both teams in that building.
Yeah, I mean, and the effort that was given yesterday for what it costs to go to these games, and I know that there's not a lot of real fans in there, and it's Celebrity Row, and it's this and that. It's the thing to do. But there are real fans who maybe go to one game a year and say, hey, I've got awful work on MLK Day. I'm going to go in. I'm going to spend the money.
