What a busy Thursday morning with the Mets making the trade with Freddy Peralta last night, the Yankees yesterday afternoon.
Signing Cody Bellinger, the Bo Bichette press conference, the Buffalo Bills and the craziness that happened at their press conference, the Knicks blowing the doors off of the Nets, and we are heading into full steam ahead championship weekend with one of the oddest and most unlikely stories at quarterback, Jared Stidham, who makes the start.
Now, I don't know about this, but these online conspiracy theories about things that went on, You know what I saw yesterday? That because Bo Nix looked fine after the game, that it was like an Edwin Diaz celebration thing where he hurt his ankle. Could there be any truth to that? Because he looked fine when he took a knee.
He looked fine a previous play, and then all of a sudden his ankle's broken? So I went back. Tiki and I were looking at the plays yesterday. Yeah. And it... Tiki noticed that after the run to the left side, I think the next play was a pass down the field that might have ended up in a pass interference call. And then after that came the taking the knee.
And you could see when he was throwing the ball down the field, he looked like he couldn't plant. He was all arm. I do remember that. Yes, and then when he was coming off the field after taking the knee and putting the ball in the middle of the field, you could see he was kind of gimping off the field.
So I think we both think that it did happen on either the third or fourth last play when he was running to the left. Yeah. It didn't seem like he got hit –
much but maybe the the defender fell on his ankles what happened it looked like yeah and it's a it wasn't that cold out there but if it's cold and you got the adrenaline going and maybe you don't know uh how hurt you really are but it just was surprising to have such a serious injury and the guy was just sort of walking around did a post-game interview you know it's just like business as usual well this is going to be the seventh time in in the history of the nfl that a quarterback is going to make his first start in the playoffs
And only one of those previous six won games as the guy who started in the playoffs. And, of course, that's the great Frank Reich. Is he in the mix with the Buffalo job or not? Doesn't sound like it. I don't think so. No.

Chapter 3: What are the conspiracy theories surrounding Bo Nix's injury?
Yeah, Stanford Cal. And that was a huge rush for him, and he loved those kids. You know, Stanford kids are great. You know, they all have to go to class there. This isn't like Carson Beck playing at University of Miami, not going to class. Sure. And they lose a lot of guys in the transfer portal because they develop players there.
Everybody knows that those kids are really smart to get into that school. And next thing you know, those kids go into the transfer portal. Everybody wants them. Yeah. So back to Jared Stidham for a second. If the Broncos win and he plays great, he could become a folk hero. Nick Foles. He could become... Jeff Hosteller. Right. But even more so in the fact that those guys...
started back in the regular season, and you got used to them playing well and understanding that they could do it. There was only one other quarterback that made his first start in a championship game, and it goes all the way back to 1972. Yeah, wow. Roger Staubach. Ooh, and that turned out okay. That turned out okay for the Dallas Cowboys. I would just say this about Jared Stidham.
They're paying him $12 million, and as I said earlier, he is the third highest paid backup quarterback In the NFL, and there was a story out there that some team tried to trade for him. And I'm not sure who that is. So what that tells me is that this guy is... He's smart enough to really know the offense.
He's supportive enough of the starting quarterback to help him grow in that offense, and he's an extension of the coaching staff. If you're going to get that kind of money, and this is the insurance policy that the Denver Broncos have, what I'm saying to you is that this game is going to be a lot closer than people think. Don't take any of this for granted. I like the Broncos. I'm on the Broncos.
I always am on the Broncos. I was on the Broncos last week. It was my team last week. It's the only pick I got right. So I don't know if I'm going to pick them again, but we could have a Super Bowl. Is it five and a half now? Yeah, it's five and a half. Okay. So I don't know how it's going to work out, but we have a possibility of having a Jared Stidham-Sam Darnold Super Bowl. How about that?
How about that? That would be something else, huh? The one thing I will say that also goes in the Broncos' favor in this game is that the Broncos' defense led the league in sacks. And the one thing that the Patriots do give up a lot... Or sacks, as we saw last week against Houston. That's right. And their offensive line has been shaky.
And I don't necessarily know that their starting left tackle, rookie Will Campbell, who's a great player, was off to a great start and then got hurt in the middle of the season. He's really had two rough games. Now, he's played against two great pass rushers in Daniil Hunter and Khalil Mack.
So this is like when you talk about strength of schedule and you get to this point of the season and you start seeing better teams with better players, he's probably the one guy who's had the most difficulty in the first two playoff games given who he's had to play against. So the spread now this morning on FanDuel Sportsbook, Patriots minus 4.5 traveling to Denver, so it's down a point.

Two, you can't tell me, as a season ticket holder, they're charging me more going into this season as they did last season, and like about 10% to 20% more.
You can't tell me that going into this season, this team is 10% to 20% better than what we expected last year. I mean, it's just, I don't, And if he would have done all these moves and gotten Pete, fine. I'm good with it. Instead of Polanco, you have Pete and Polanco. That's one. Two, if he would have gotten Diaz, actually one. Diaz didn't want to be here, man. Diaz chose the Dodgers.

Knicks beat the Nets 120-66. That is the correct score. 54 point difference. The biggest win total the Knicks have ever had in a single game. Jalen Brunson had 20. Here was Miles McBride. Landry Schammett, 6 of 6 from 3 on the day. He was outstanding. McBride.
Not surprised. We see how he works every day. To deal with what he's had to deal with. Testimony to his hard work. How he prepares and You know, we're not surprised.
Deuce had 14 points, as did Carl Anthony Towns. The Knicks now 26-18 with the win. The Nets fall to 12-30. There was no team meeting, as first reported. Josh Hart made that very clear that the team spoke, but there was not a big formal team meeting. And then lastly from the NHL, you had the Kraken beat the Islanders 4-1.

Hi, Boomer and Geo on the fan and CBS Sports Network. I was really pleased to see yesterday a young man show up at my door, probably around 11 or 12 years old, and he had a flyer with him, and they said they were the Sayville Shovel Team.
And it was him and two of his buddies that were of the same age, and they had their pictures on the flyer and the number and, like, you know, large driveway, $40, medium driveway, $30. I think that's awesome. And I was really happy to see that because I feel like that stuff doesn't happen as much anymore with the kids and the initiative. That's how I made money back in the day.
What are you guys doing Sunday? You know, that's why I think, I mean, it might be a lot though for them to do all of that, but I may, I do have, I kept the flyer. I have their number. I may call upon them. We used to go around, just knock on the door. Hey, we'd like to shovel your driver and your walkway. And you know, could we get five, 10 bucks? Yeah. And actually we didn't set the price.
The homeowner gave us whatever they wanted. Yeah, that's always a tricky spot with that, you know? Well, these guys are always handing pamphlets out, giving you the prices. Right, this is what it's going to cost. Takes that awkwardness away, like after you've done the... Hopefully you've done it in about a half an hour and you're done.
