The book is hard hitting and honest, with a few hilarious anecdotes mixed in (we had to have her tell us the lettuce/slug story!). Lierre helps us realize that, no matter what we choose to eat, something has to die. It's a complicated and sobering thought, but facing the truth helps us eat more mindfully and thankfully.
