Listen, should more of us, I'm just thinking of the wildfires and the pleas by the National Park Service and others not to be using barbecues and to be really, really conscious when we're out in nature. Should more of us be considering camping for our summer holiday this year?
Yeah, well, I mean, I'm super glad that you've brought that up right off the rip here because it's something that's very top of mind for a lot of us. And there's actually, there was a wildfire burning just very close to my house. So it was quite a lot, quite a bit of concern locally about it. But there's ways we can sort of avoid that and definitely still enjoy the outdoors without... like causing those catastrophe wildfires that we have seen all over the country, unfortunately.
And look, obviously, there's lots of sustainable, you know, options, you know, family orientated places where people can go to. And look, we're blessed, obviously, with loads of beaches and everything. It is a good way to explore the country. But for those who have never camped before, what do they need to consider?
Yeah, I mean, like, I suppose whenever we're talking about camping, we're sort of putting that, that's quite a broad term. And maybe that's a bit of a catch-all term. And people will have different associations as to what that sort of means. So we'd have sort of family camping or car camping. And then there is sort of wild camping is something that's said as well, which maybe we'll talk about a little bit later. But definitely something to consider. to consider in terms of gear and in terms of where you're going to be pitching up. This is mainly exclusively talking about pitching up in campsites, which have facilities like toilets and washrooms and these sorts of things, which really does make it a much more enjoyable experience and much more of a family-orientated holiday experience as we've introduced this as a great way of
saving money and having a nice holiday and exploring Ireland, doing so in campsites is really the best way of doing that because not only are you going to be, you're still going to be feeling quite immersed in nature, but you're still going to have the sort of amenities of campsites like the washrooms and stuff like that.
I'm not about campervanning people. I have friends who are campervanners and they... It's like they're a tribe. It's just the people who are into it just absolutely love it. And if you don't want to go to the expense of buying one, can you can you get into it by just, you know, renting one? Like, is it feasible? Is it sustainable to to do that and try the camper vanning?
Yeah, absolutely. We actually, at Outsider, we rented a road surfer van. They have like, there's a couple of different places, this is not, they didn't pay us or anything, but there is a place near Dublin airport that you can rent these camper vans and for anything from like, I'm not actually sure, a couple of hundred quid, you could rent a camper van for a week and go and explore the Wild Atlantic Way. And that's a really nice way of, again, keeping the cost a little bit lower because then your transport is also your accommodation. And these things can be really quite basic. Over the years, we've rented like And quite a small one where you have to fold out the bed every night and it would just be two of us in the van.
And most recently, we actually made a video over on our YouTube about a road trip along the Wild Atlantic Way. And we rented quite a sizable van that was super comfortable and you're able to park up at some amazing beaches along the Wild Atlantic Way.
