And I'm joined today by culture journalist Zara Hederman and host of the Extra Vision podcast, Andy McCarl. Welcome, guys. So, Andy, the big movie of the week, Christopher Nolan's take on The Odyssey is out on Friday. Expectations are high for this.
Yeah, I'm absolutely dying to see. I'm a huge Chris Nolan fan. The cast as well is incredible. It's shot entirely in IMAX. It's coming off the back of Oppenheimer as well, winning all of the Oscars. There is a bit of controversy around it. It is the second most disliked movie trailer on YouTube behind Snow White, before you ask. A lot of that seems to be the casting of Elliot Page, formerly Ellen Page, and then Elon Musk criticizing Lupita Nyong'o's casting as Helen of Troy. The juxtaposition to that is it is now the highest pre-sale IMAX film in history.

OK, right. That's the Odyssey and that's in cinemas next Friday. And Zara, briefly on this, to coincide the IFI are having an Odyssey season.
Yeah, it's really brilliant. Actually, today, Apocalypse Now, the final cut is going to be on in the afternoon. I've seen a few films. I went to Aguirre, The Wrath of God, the Werner Herzog film. And they also have The Deer Hunter, The Searchers, A Very Long Engagement. It's just a great opportunity to see these classic films on the big screen and the IFI.
OK, that's running throughout the month of July at the IFI. Andy, the live action remake of Moana is in cinemas now and the general consensus seems to be that nobody needed this.
No, definitely not. The film is less than 10 years old, the original. It would still be on an ex-rental shelf, an extra vision. This is the most dead behind the eyes, let's grab as much money as we can film I've seen in a long time. That's saying something. It took all the vibrancy, all the colour, all the expression of the original film and just ruined it. I don't know if you remember the remake of Psycho a couple of years ago, it was like 30 years ago now, where Gus Van Sant basically made a shot for shot remake. And it was just dreadful. This is nearly exactly the same thing. It's purely a money decision. Just watch the original. It's far better.
Okay, that's Moana and it's in cinemas now in case you're interested after that, right? Sarah, I'm very disappointed to see the bad reviews of Rosebush pruning because... Because the trailer looked amazing. I thought this is going to be my favourite film of the year.
I know. I was in your kind of camp there as well, Brendan. I was very excited, especially because it's like a filmmaker and visual artist, Kareem Anus, who made it. And Yorgos Lanthimos' Ephithymus Philippe co-wrote it. It's just style over substance. And I suppose if you liked Saltburn... Succession and also House of Gucci is how I would kind of classify this. Like there's a lot of very stylish shots in it, a lot of booming dance music. But for what purpose? There's not really a whole lot. Also, there's a great cast in it. Like Jamie Bell is in it, who I really love. He's kind of a central figure within this family. So it's about a dysfunctional family, American, who have relocated to Catalonia. The father is played by Tracy Letts.
He's blind and he is horrible in this. And then amongst the siblings is Riley Keough. There's Callum Turner. Of course, people would know as Mr. Dua Lipa. He is this kind of peripheral brother who's almost kind of narrating the whole thing and watching on at the different things happening in his family. And there's one thing, a secret is revealed.

And it's pretty huge, like what he finds out about. And then we have an incestuous kind of vibe between Riley Keough, who was one of the sisters with the Jamie Bell character. And like I was trying to be positive about it, but it's just like in parts disgusting for the sake of it and trying to be smarter than it is.
