This is Ryder Strong, and I have a new podcast called The Red Weather. In 1995, my neighbor and a trainer disappeared from a commune. It was nature and trees and praying and drugs.
So no, I am not your guru.
And back then, I lied to everybody.
They have had this case for 30 years.

Chapter 2: What led to Twan's decision to lie on his date?
Maybe I did. I don't know. Did you give those compliments directly to her? Oh, yeah. After a few Don Julio Blancos, the compliments kept coming.
Wow.
And you're drinking Don Julio. That's expensive, bro. Brooke, you wouldn't be mad at that type of compliment coming at you immediately, right? I mean, okay, listen. Like, I feel like everybody, you and her, know what the goal of this evening is. Yeah. So it's an appropriate compliment, right? Yeah, I was trying to get unhinged. I was unhinged, trying to get unhinged. But it was really good.
We were at the corner of the bar by the jukebox. We were playing music. Then we ended up making out. In your own world, I like that. It's nothing like a good bar makeout. Yeah, and you're the jukebox. I think we've all had this date before. Did you actually, that night, did you actually expect to see her again? Yeah. I mean, I asked her. I said she wanted to go back to my house.
You know, in my house, I have more Don Julio and more drinks. I don't think that was necessary. I told her I make better drinks than the bartender. So she's very excited. She said, OK. All right. But there's a big but. Oh, in addition to the eyes and the other body parts. That's good. So, you know, I get a call from a couple of my friends and they're like, They're like, oh, we need to hang out.
We need to hang out. We're drinking. There's more women over here. You need to be here. So you answered the phone call while you're still with her? I did. Please tell me you weren't on speakerphone when they're telling you there's more women. No, no.
There wasn't no speakerphone, but I saw the 911 calls, and I had to decide real fast if I was going to go with my buddies or go back to my house with Kim, and I... I told her that my mother had an irregular heartbeat. Oh, my gosh. Oh, wow. You gave your mom a heart condition. So you're at the bar, you invited her back, and then took back the invite. Oh, my gosh.
And, you know, she looked at me like, huh? Like, what? There's no way you're doing it. Yeah, I told her I had to leave. She must have understood. I mean, your mom is having an emergency. On a Friday night at like midnight? I don't think she believed me. She didn't buy it. I've been trying to call her and text message her for the last couple of days, and she hasn't been answering me.
But wait, what happened with your buddy and all of the girls that he had waiting? Oh, yeah. Oh, we woke up on Sunday. I mean, this was Friday. We ended up leaving Sunday morning. All right. Why do I feel like you only woke up with your buddies? Yeah, that's what you like to believe. Oh, okay. So the problem is you only slept with a few girls that weekend. You need to get the one that got away.

Chapter 3: How did Twan's friends influence his dating choices?
That's what the guys want to think. That's what I want to think this time. Me too. We all want to think what we want to think, but let's see what Kim thinks when we call her and try and get you a successful second date update for your Friday night right after this.
Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Second date update.
Don't you hate it when you're bringing a woman back to your place and you get blocked by your mom's fake heart condition? Darn it. It sucks. It's so not sad. Yeah, well, that's what happened to our listener, Twan, on the night that he met up with a beautiful woman named Kim from Hinge.
And right before he could bring her home, got a call from his buddies saying they had a bunch of ladies, big party, we need you here. Yeah. So tough choice, but Twan chose the bros. It's like one woman or several women. Yeah, I don't think he chose the bros. He chose the girls. That's a good point, Alexis. But ended up having a fantastic weekend. But guess what?
The cool thing about weekends, there's another one coming up. And he wants to reconnect with Kim to see if she's available for that one. Because luckily, his mom is all better. That's good news. Kim didn't find out about you going over to this party, did she?
No.
No, she didn't. I hope she never does. Okay. You said you were not on speakerphone when you got the call. But he was drunk and on the phone. Were you like next to her? Talking really loud? Yeah.
Well, I was covert.
She didn't have no clue. My friends got overexcited. They said hoes over bros and bros over hoes. So I hope she didn't hear any of that. Yeah. I trust in Twan's ability to stay covert. I don't trust in our ability to not out him in this next call, to be honest. I am so excited to hear her side, though.

Chapter 4: What happened during Twan's date with Kim?
I don't know. Maybe I was just like more open to that this time. Right. But he said his mom like has like a heart condition or something. And he was like, I really have to go. Like, I'm so sorry. Yeah, I heard that. So, I mean, why not give him a second chance if his mom is going through something? Like, you can't fault a guy. You can't fault a guy for going through something like that. Totally.
But then, I mean, that wasn't the end of our interaction. Oh, was it? So he left me around like nine and I just went back home and like chilled. And then he texted me at like, 1.30 or something. 1.30 a.m. And he was like, hey, mom's good. If you're still up, come meet me here. Oh, that's kind of nice. Yeah, 1.30 in the morning texts are always sweet.
It shows that once he found out his mom was okay, he was still thinking about you. But not coming to her. She could come to him. He just went through a very traumatic experience. So wait, did you go? Yes. So my thought was... If I actually like this person, maybe I should be there for them. So I was like, okay. Wow. And I was still up. We didn't know that you had even remet with him.
We didn't hear that part. So I went to the address that he sent. It wasn't that far. But when I got there, there was like a rager. There was a huge party. Oh. And so I'm going in. I'm like, is your mom here? Like, what is this? And I walked around for, like, five minutes, couldn't find him anywhere. And then finally I see him, and he's on this couch.
And there's, like, two girls sitting on his lap, like, draped all over him. Ooh. I'm like, I don't think your mom has a heart condition. Wait, are those his mom's nurses? No, no. He's thanking them for taking such good care of his mom. He got caught. Oh, that's bad. I'm sorry you had to see that. Yeah, so I don't know. I just, I left.
oh you didn't approach him so he never saw no dude what an opportunity to ruin his chances with two other women yeah god like that's really funny okay all three of them were so far gone i don't think you're right there might be a chance he doesn't remember that happening because he is on the other line right now waiting to talk to you no way he Oh, my God.
Did he hear everything that I just said? Oh, I think he needed to hear it. I don't think you should be embarrassed at all. He should be embarrassed. Twan, are you there? Yeah, I'm here. I can't believe I did that. Did I? You did. Let's talk to Kim about it. I really don't remember. I mean, I kind of, like, mourn different. Like, when something like... Oh, come on. Are you mourning?
Did your mom die? Did your mom die, Twan? Are you mourning? I'm sorry. I used the wrong word. I mean, I kind of, like...
I have a drinking problem at times.

Chapter 5: What was Twan's excuse for leaving the date early?
Wait, now you're throwing me under the bus? She's got bunions. No, look, I'll give you that. You're funny. You're hilarious. Yay, come on. All right. I mean, Kim, if he would have just been honest with you about everything, would you have hung out with him again? Maybe. Like, I didn't need something serious. But I also don't need, I really don't need someone who's going to plant my face.
Telling a girl I'm leaving you for other girls never works. I was leaving you for my bros, not girls. And you know what? That's so much better. Okay, now we're finally on the same page. So with that being said, Kim, you don't have any plans for this weekend, right? Come on. Are you serious? You know, I don't have any plans for this weekend.
Perfect, because we would love to offer to hook you up with Twan one more time, and we would pay for that date. Or the Don Julio, whatever you want. Dude, that's expensive, dude. Okay, sorry. Brooke will pay for the Don Julio. We'll do an appetizer for you. We can maybe do Jose Cuervo. Yes, and I'll also start a GoFundMe page for Twan's mom. Oh, bro.
Not for her. Really sweet.
Not for her heart, for her feet. Oh, yes. You need some insults. What do you think, Kim? I'll go, but.
Really? Wow.
No, no, no, no, no, no. I'll go if you'll pay for me and Brooke to go out.
Hey. Oh, bro.
It's about to get stashed. Well, nice. You don't want that. Dude, I'll definitely buy the tequila then. Two ladies and another weekend again? Yes, sir. Brooke, you just made Twan's dream come true. You're not invited.

Chapter 6: How did Kim react to Twan's sudden departure?
I'm coming. I'm going to find you guys.
In the middle of the night, Saskia awoke in a haze. Her husband, Mike, was on his laptop. What was on his screen would change Saskia's life forever.
I said, I need you to tell me exactly what you're doing. And immediately, the mask came off. You're supposed to be safe.
That's your home. That's your husband.
To keep this secret for so many years, he's like a seasoned pro.
This is a story about the end of a marriage, but it's also the story of one woman who was done living in the dark.
You're a dangerous person who preys on vulnerable and trusting people. You're a predator, Michael, up and good.
