Chapter 1: What is the premise of the Second Date Update segment?
Hey, we're getting a check in from one of our couples from this podcast. Hey, welcome to it. It's Brooke and Jeffrey. And this is the Second Date Update podcast. Thank you so much for being here. If you don't know how the update updates work or you forget, that's fine. Just we're going to play the original. So we're all on the same page. And it's a doozy.
Yeah, when you rehear it, you'll be like, oh, I forgot how this one went.
Yeah. You may even bring the word doozy back. Yeah.
You may say doozy. And then there'll be a quick commercial, okay? Do with it what you want. Uh-huh. Put it on full volume.
Yeah, sure. Yeah, go get a snack. Jam out.
And then we're going to come back and have them back on to hear what's happened since. So stick around for that. But first, we always love to highlight our listeners.
Yeah. Leanne Helen said, we all need to make a petition to make it legally required to listen to this radio show. I love it. I'm from Northern Ireland and don't think anybody would be brave enough to start something like this.
Yeah. No. Yeah. It's a petition or just listening. All right. I love that we need to force people to be here. Yeah, that's fine. It's fine with me. All right, let's get it started right now.
We always like to talk about the one who got away. But for some reason, we rarely talk about the one who just won't go away.

Chapter 2: What challenges does the listener face with an old flame?
Hey, guys. How are you?
Oh, my goodness. We can't wait to hear this story. Yeah.
Yeah. What happened? You saw a woman get stood up somewhere.
Yeah. So I went to this Mexican restaurant after I got off work and I was going to just meet my buddy at the bar. Yeah. But I get to the bar and there's only one seat open and it's next to this woman. And, you know, she's very, very pretty. And her name is Sabrina. I didn't know that at the time. So I go, hey, is it cool if I sit down here? She goes, actually, it's reserved. I have a date coming.
And I was like, well, would you mind if I just sat here until my friend got here? She thinks about it for a moment. She goes, yeah, that's fine. You can sit. Okay.
So she's planning on kicking you out. Yeah.
Yeah, yeah. So, you know, I sit down and I start talking to her just to be polite while I'm waiting for the bartender to take my order. And it actually starts going well. And we're talking now. It goes on for like 10 minutes. She thought this guy was coming any second. He's still not there. So we're drinking. I'm buying her drinks. And she gets a text that the guy has canceled on her.
Oh, dude. What a jerk. But also a way to turn lemons into margaritas. Yeah.
So I text my friend, you know what? Turn around. Turn the car around. I don't need you tonight.

Chapter 3: How did Joseph's unexpected encounter at the bar unfold?
Whoa. Wow.
Okay, this pedestal has just been risen. Like, that is a really high place to put it.
You need to high-five that baby for being the best wingman ever. So, I mean, what happens after Mexican food?
I went back to her place and we hung out. Okay. Until like 2 a.m. Whoa.
Did you talk at all?
No, we sat there in silence.
Yeah, we talked. I didn't mean sitting there in silence.
If there was physical activities happening. We had a really good time.
Okay.

Chapter 4: What surprising turn of events happened during Joseph's date?
I think it's 100% that she definitely hooked up with her ex over the weekend. Oh, excuse me. But that doesn't mean they're back together. Yeah, true.
I don't like you putting this in my head. I really don't.
just trying to prepare you exactly i will take the other angle and say there is no chance that she met up with her ex-boyfriend and she was thinking about you the entire time what a cute naive world you live in yeah she didn't even type anything on her work laptops it was just your name over and over and over again the entire trip wow that's what i'm thinking happened hopefully
That wouldn't be a red flag. Yeah, actually, that would be scary, dog.
Okay, but let's find out. We'll see what actually happened if she picks up the phone. I'm going to dial her number right now, but here we go. Hello? Hey, is this Sabrina? Yeah. Awesome. So, hey, Sabrina, thank you for picking up. You are on a radio show right now. We're called Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
Hello. Hi. Good morning. Good morning. I'm confused. Why would a radio show call me?
Well, we do a segment on this show called The Second Date Update, which is where we help out our listeners if they've gone out with somebody or had a fun romantic encounter, in your case. We try to help them reconnect and figure out if there's a chance at a second meetup.
Okay. That's a really popular segment.
Yeah, and we're doing this on behalf of one of our listeners that met you the other day. It's a guy named Joseph.

Chapter 5: What concerns arise about Sabrina's ex during the call?
I'm sorry. Should I have asked that question earlier when they were talking about being kissing machines on each other? When it was perfect and it was the best date ever. Oh, shoot. Like five minutes ago. That was my bad. But Sabrina, the offer still stands. We'll offer to pay for a date.
We're going to pay you. My answer is yes.
My answer is yes. She's distancing herself from her current fiance. Verbally. Emotionally and verbally. Not quite physically yet, but that happens every time you go meet up with your exes.
I'm working on it, you guys. We won't be together in a month, I promise. Just break up with the man.
Joseph, she did say yes. You heard it. She wants to see you again. Let's put everything else aside, including her engagement to another man. I need to hear from you. Is it a yes to another date with Sabrina? And I want you to remember to think with your heart, not with your head.
You better say no, Joseph.
I mean... I want to hang out with you again, but I have to wait until you're done. So can you just talk to me after?
Yeah. Okay. Because you can totally believe her when she says, yeah, we're totally broken up.
Joseph, you might have to say the word quesadilla one more time in order to get her back on your side.
