Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
Dr. Laurie Santos from the Happiness Lab here.
Chapter 2: What partnership is the Happiness Lab promoting this season?
It's the season of giving, and this year my podcast, the Happiness Lab, is partnering with GiveDirectly, a nonprofit that provides people in extreme poverty with the cash they need as part of the Pods Fight Poverty campaign. Our goal this year is to raise $1 million, which will bring over 700 families out of extreme poverty.
Your donation will put cash directly in the hands of these families in need. And they'll get to decide how to use it, whether that's school transportation, purchasing livestock, or starting a business. Plus, if you're a first-time donor, your gift will be matched by giving multiplier, which means more money for those in need. Visit givedirectly.org slash happiness lab to learn more and to donate.
That's givedirectly.org slash happiness lab.
What are the cycles fathers pass down that sons are left to heal? What if being a man wasn't about holding it all together, but learning how to let go? Chapter 3: How can donations help families in extreme poverty?
The social media trend is landing some Gen Zers in jail. The progressive media darling whose public meltdown got her fired. And the massive TikTok boycott against Target that actually makes no sense. You won't hear about these online stories in the mainstream media.
But you can keep up with them and all the other entertaining and outrageous things happening online, in media, and in politics with the Brad vs. Everyone podcast. Listen to the Brad vs. Everyone podcast on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Talking about trauma isn't always great for people. It's not always the best thing. About a third of people who are traumatized as kids feel worse when they talk about it, get very dysregulated.

Chapter 4: What cycles do fathers pass down that sons must heal?
I still hope Brooke tries that for our social media next week. But the reason that I bring it up is because a 17-year-old kid in Florida was, quote, super bored the other night. Yeah. Oh, super. Super. So he filmed himself driving his truck onto a ritzy golf course and doing a ton of donuts. just going around and around and around, ultimately causing $160,000 in damages. Wow.
This sounds like someone I would have gone to high school with. I am not exaggerating. I don't know if I'd be driving, but I feel like I would have been in the area when this was happening. He basically destroyed 7,000 square feet of property on the second hole. And he did this at 2.30 in the morning because he said there was literally nothing else to do.
That's true.
Boredom equals crime. Yeah. So he did the opposite of raw dogging boredom. He raw dogged adrenaline. That's when you're like, why can't you be like every other teen and just get on TikTok and scroll for a while? Yeah. Crazy kids. Now, the good news is his golf course donut video went hella viral. Nice. The bad news?
That video helped cops track him down at his local high school where he was arrested. At school? That's kind of like, whew, he's famous now. Now he's facing charges of criminal mischief, a second-degree felony, and what do we think of second-degree felonies?
Ultra dank.
That's right.

Chapter 5: What is the significance of the 'Bear It All' edition?
Ultra, almost as dank as the shot caller question of the day. Who knows how much damage Jake has done to our throats over the years, but what's a little bit more? Am I right, gang? Crank it up, Jake. Happy National American Teddy Bear Day. It's the perfect excuse to admit you like being spooned by something with big button eyes.
Since bears have been stealing our hearts in movies and cartoons for decades, today we're testing your fuzzy knowledge with a special Bear It All edition of... Plenty of 20. Oh my. You say number one through 20, I'll give you a hint about a famous bear. Oh, I thought we were going to go with the naked part of bear. Okay, fine. They could be teddies you've seen on TV shows, movies.
They could be toys, company mascots. You just have to name the iconic bear I'm thinking of to stay in the game. We'll start with the woman who's a big fan of bears because she barely graduated. That's Alexis.
Not true. Three.
Three.
Alexis, your bear is a polite marmalade-eating bear from Peru who became a movie icon.
I love this movie. The second one made me cry.
Paddington. How is the second one so good?
It's so good.

Chapter 6: What viral trend caused a teen to get arrested?
It's Archibald. Okay.
Jose, we're back to you. Need a number. Number one Smarter than your average bear, known for stealing picnic baskets in Jellystone Park. Yogi Bear. Yogi Bear. Jeffrey, we're over to you now. We're back in this bear thing. Number 10. Jeffrey, this beloved children's book bear lost a button, but he found a friend. What bear am I talking about? Is it Paddington again?
This is Paddington from Paddington 2. Paddington 2? That bear's name is Corduroy from the children's books. Oh, I do remember that. I could barely stand hearing Jeffrey get that wrong. I'm going to say that Alexis and Jose have won today's edition of Plenty of 20. So you two get to choose who gets shocked. They're going to be singing You've Got a Friend in Me by Randy Newman.
Who's that going to be?
I mean, I can't believe Brooke didn't know his name.
The song, but not the name.
Disgrace.
You want me to sing that song again? I will. Okay. You've got a friend in me. No. Quick end to that. That was your shock collar question of the day. We got your phone tab coming up in just a few minutes.
Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
