Chapter 1: Who is JT and what is his background with Bubba?
This podcast is brought to you in part by Coke, Buffalo Wild Wings, Southern Immediate Care, Guaranteed Labels, Central State Bank, Sunrise Ducks, Bankers Bounty, and Dr. Thomas Dudney. Now, back to Bubba on the Lake. Hey, it's Bubba, hey, Bubba, Bubba,
Going on. Gotta come and check.
Well, hello again, everybody, and welcome to Bubba on the Lake. I hope everyone is having a great day. We have a really good show for you today. I'm excited about it. You're going to enjoy it. My old friend, Jeff Tyson, JT, that used to be on the radio show with us when we were over on 94.5 in Birmingham...
uh is going to uh call in we're going to talk to him a little bit about what he's doing talk about some of the fun we had we also have an extended segment with the lovely betty lou and we are playing with some new equipment and we're going to have a lot of fun with that you know um The holidays, which we had a great holiday season. I've already talked about that. But the holidays are over.
Chapter 2: What memorable experiences did Bubba and JT share from their past?
They're behind us. A little depressing when you take down the Christmas tree because I love the glow of it in the morning when I get up. But it has been tucked away, even though I pleaded with Betty to leave it out and make it a Valentine tree. which I think would be very cute, by the way. But that did not happen. I lost that battle. But the holidays are over.
We're in the very final steps of the football season for pros and college. We have a national championship game coming up next week. We're excited about that. We've covered that, by the way, on our other podcast, The Tailgate Tailgate Show. And we had a lot of fun with it. Uh, I may be accused of drinking on the job on that one. I did not do a very good job as a host.
Uh, part of that was we were playing with some new equipment and I was trying to do too much.
Chapter 3: How does JT describe his current work in radio?
It's, it's kind of funny. So if you get a chance to listen to it, the tailgate tailgate show, uh, wherever you get your podcast, of course, this one is Bubba on the lake, the one that started it all. Um, uh, Hunting season is still going on. I have not been hunting this year. Still, you know, recuperating with a knee. I didn't think I needed to be out there fumbling around in the woods.
But I'm going to try to get a hunt in here in January before it's all over. Looking forward to that. And that'll be wrapping up pretty soon, too. And, you know, I'll be honest with you. Some of these sunny days have kind of given me a little bit of spring fever. I enjoy the winter.
You know, it leads up to Christmas, but after we pass first of the year, I'm kind of ready to get back to spring again. And if you're a lake person, you start counting the days to plug day if your lake, you know, drops the level so people can work on things during the winter.
Chapter 4: What insights does JT share about voice tracking in radio?
So you start getting ready for that, and it's a lot of fun. As I've mentioned before, we talk about some lake things, but it's not all about that. Living on the lake, to me, is more of a state of mind. It is, hey, just relax, chill out, everything's going to be all right, work through it, and there's no need to pitch a hissy fit.
That's kind of what I'm trying to adapt to now, and we're loving it. We really are. Speaking of that, as we head into spring, you start having the various shows. You're going to have truck shows, camper shows. I'll be honest. I love those things. I really do. I love walking around and looking at things that I probably can't afford.
But you get all kinds of ideas, and it's kind of cool to see how they're doing all that. Boat shows. Matter of fact, we have one of those coming up.
Chapter 5: What is Betty's Corner and what topics will it cover?
And Russell Marine, who is a big sponsor of this program, will also be at the Birmingham Boat Show. That's happening January 2nd through the 25th at the BJCC, and I definitely want to make that one. They're bringing the newest boats and personal watercraft models with great show pricing, plus a fully stocked pro shop to get you completely outfitted for the water.
Now, you've got to look your best out there, guys. You can't go out there on the jet ski and kind of halfway do it. You got to look sharp. Also, agents from Lake Martin Realty will be on site. Stop by their booth and find out about getting your own piece of Lake Martin just in time for summer. For all the newest boats and gear, you'll find it all at Russell Marine at the BJCC.
And we appreciate them being a sponsor of that and a sponsor of this podcast. So, you know, they mentioned about getting your own piece of Lake Martin. We have met more and more people who have made the decision to give up regular life and move to the lake. And I just I just don't know any of them that thought it was a bad decision after they got here.
I know it can, you know, everything's pricing now, but, you know, prices just don't go down. So the best thing to do is go ahead, jump in and enjoy the appreciation.
Chapter 6: What are some of Betty's favorite recipes that listeners are interested in?
And then as prices go up, it's on your side, not working against you. Just a little bit of financial ideas there. I'm not an expert, but, you know, we play one on the radio sometimes. So with all that going on, we're excited. I think it's a great time of year. Like I say, we're wrapping up some sports, and we're getting ready for the spring, and, boy, these warm days.
I know it's cold in the morning and in the afternoon sometimes, but... Middle of the day, you know, if you get me to 55 or 60, spring fever is growing on me like moss on a rock, I mean to tell you. So anyway, we have a great program lined up. I think you will really enjoy it, and we will get to that right away. And thank you for being here with us at Bubba on the Lake.
We'll be right back after these messages.
Where's Bubba? I'll tell you where. He's on the lake.
Chapter 7: What travel plans do Bubba and Betty have for the upcoming year?
Mmm, yeah, that taste scores every time. And just like that, they're back at it. Passionate fans and an ice-cold Coca-Cola. Now that's a winning combo. No matter the team, no matter the sport, everyone knows fan work is thirsty work. Enjoy a Coca-Cola.

We're back at Bubba on the Lake and on the Celebrity Hotline. We have a very special guest. He's a man we've tried to tie down for over a year. We finally caught him today, the one and only JT, better known as Jeff Dyson. Jeff, how are you doing?
Hi, fellas. How are you? I'm doing great. How are you doing, man? How are you doing?
Well, I'm doing great. We miss you, man. Hadn't seen you in forever.
Well, you and Betty down there living the high life, you know, water skiing and, you know, chelating. You got shrimp on the bobby. You know, you're in a whole other world now.
Well, it is a little more laid back down here. You got to have a golf cart to get around and, you know, beautiful sunrises and sunsets. But other than that, I'm fine. So, JT, you used to be with us on the radio from time to time. You were the program director at 94.5 when we were there. And we had a lot of fun back then, didn't we?
We had a great time, and I remember, you know, if you want to go way back to when we first met and you guys came down together and came into my office on Highland Avenue back in 1995, I think it was, and that whole thing about I'd love to hire you and I'd get right back to you, and I ran it up the old chain and got 25 people involved in making a decision that should have been made, wasn't made at the time, and fast forward, here we are.
Well, that was an exciting trip because, you know, for us to be down there and be on Holland Avenue where 94.5 was, at one time was WAPI I-95 and the home of Mark and Brian. I mean, that was huge to us because we grew up listening to those guys. I couldn't believe we were even in the same building.
Well, I'd come back from being gone for a while. I left, and Judy and I got married in 1984 here in Birmingham, and then came back 10 years later. And I was 26 way back in the day. When I came back, yeah, I went to 94.5 and then switched over to Mix. It was 94.5 at the time, called Mix 94.5, and then I joined iHeartRadio.
