What's up, everybody? You're listening to Busted Open After Dark. As we head into TNA Rebellion, we break down what went down on TNA Wrestling's Impact.

Again, it was the go home show for Rebellion. And Rebellion has some pretty big matchups. Of course, the big title matchup between Mike Santana defending the TNA World Championship against Eddie Edwards. And I actually want to start there. I was pleasantly surprised today by how good this back and forth promo between Eddie Edwards and Mike Santana was. Now, I shouldn't say I was so surprised because here's the thing: they've had some good back and forths, they've gotten very personal. They have both brought up family issues, family dynamics. They've both talked about their fathers. They've thrown some shots in there. Eddie Edwards today talking about Mike Santiana's daughter. They've gotten very personal.
But I think today was the one that I enjoyed the most. And I gotta tell you, Eddie Edwards brought up some really great points. Today he brought up the fact that Mike Santana left TNA, he stayed, and brought up that he was in the shadows of the inner circle. Now he says it a lot better, so I'm gonna roll Eddie Edwards audio and then we're gonna break it down.
When things got difficult around here, when times got tough, what happened? You left. I stayed. When this company was gonna go out of business, what happened? You left, I stayed. When this place needed somebody to stand up and fight, what happened? You left, I stayed. I carried this company on my back through the ups, through the downs, through the times where this place was left at. Aye. Stay. You left for greener pastures. You thought the grass was greener elsewhere. Meanwhile, I became the foundation of TNA wrestling. And you came to realize the grass doesn't grow so well in the shadows of the inner circle, does it?
Oh, that was good. I love little shots like that whenever somebody brings up somebody's past. Every time that happens, it always blows me away because it's always truth, right? Whenever there is some truth to what you're hearing in terms of promos, it always makes it so much better. And now, for those of you guys who may be wondering, okay, Denise, that's great and all, but what the hell does that mean? Well, don't forget that Mike Santana spent a good amount of time over on the AEW side when he was still team. With Ortiz, and he was part of the inner circle. And unfortunately, all of the things that we thought was gonna happen for LAX did not happen. The team broke up, and then it just went downhill from there for them, which is very unfortunate because at that time they were truly one of the greatest tag teams that were happening at that moment.
At one point, Santana and And Dortiz were legitimately my favorite tag team in wrestling at that point in time. And so for them to go from being the top sought-out tag team to going in the shadows of the inner circle and then breaking up and what we know the rest is history. I love that Eddie Edwards brought that up. I love that Eddie Edwards spoke about being the foundation of TNA because whenever. And it kind of felt a little babyface to me because when you bring stuff up like that, yes, the fans should always root for the home, like the guy that is the most loyal to the company. So I like that there is a little bit of shades of good and evil uh right now from that promo with Eddie Edwards. Now, Mike Santana did have a rebuttal.
Personally, I still thought Eddie Edwards' promo was stronger, but But I'll let you be the judge of that. Here's what Mike Santana had to say.

I left. So that I could find out exactly who Mike Santana truly is. But you know what I realized? That no matter where I went, my heart was still right here in TNA. This is the place.
