It took me on a nice ride, um I did not know who was walking out from the music, but the whole setup uh basically presented as a star. Um the music of course is new because they can't use his old music. Um and just the camera angles, the dark The once he walked out, I still didn't know who he was until I saw his name. And for the immediate crowd, that place popped massive. Uh, for your television crowd, once it was revealed when the lights came on and the pyro went off, you could see that it was uh Tommaso Ciampa. And uh then go on their social media and Tommaso Ciampa is all elite.
Um he does need to change his Twitter handle if that's still his existing Twitter handle. Um But yeah, a lot of controversy. Uh, not so much controversy, a lot of talk about Tomaso Ciampa. He put out a tweet. Andre the producing giant said it was about uh seven days ago that he was leaving WWE. Um and obviously he had his sight set on AEW. Uh don't know when his contract was up. Uh but great initial first great. Great hire of Tommaso Ciampa. Listen, I love Tommaso Ciampa. Um He's always been a great worker. He's my friend. Uh gave him opportunity a bunch of times. Used him on my own shows when I was running him. And uh he always delivered. Uh I think his lucky break was within, you know, going to NXT, and he was the face of NXT for a long, long time.
How did the crowd and production reveal Ciampa’s debut on Dynamite?
We saw so many different levels of him, both good guy, bad guy, and And if he is presented in that same light, uh, we'll be a big contributor to uh A E W. And again, initial reaction right off the bat, perception is reality. Perceived reaction the the pyro, the reaction, everything that he got, perception he's a star, uh, from walking out that way, um, into the crowd and and facing off with uh Mark Briscoe, um I love the stare down, I love the reaction, I love the new attire. Me personally, wish he would I like that he trimmed the beard, wish he would have dyed it. Um Just to look Almost like refreshed and uh Different but Man, again, uh I personally love I'm also a big fan of just for men. Um, but With him coming out.
A great, great like gave me Chris Jericho vibes when Jericho went from WCW to uh the WWE. Uh with Tommaso again uh I'm NXT mainstay. Uh came up To the main roster. Wasn't used as much on Raw, then went to SmackDown, seemed to get a bit of an opportunity, gave him some vignettes. Don't know what happened, don't know also. I think he got injured for a ha little bit, comes back and uh never always will deliver a ring in the ring, but I don't think he was able to crack that next upper echelon within the WWE and not by, you know, hey, it it's not by any fault of his. He can hang with the best of 'em. Uh he did get title opportunities, was tag team champion. Um Again, what happens in NXT is different from what happens on the main roster, how you connect uh with the audience, space on the card.
There's so many different like levels where you sell merched. It's and it's not just reactions. It's if where you stand, you know, by going by ratings, all that stuff. There's so many different metrics you can use. And then also it could come up to Uh Watching WWE Unreal of I'm on episode two, just finished it, and it's like, hey, if your contract is up, your contract is up, and it's your decision if you want to re- sign. It's also the company's decision if you want to re sign. And if you feel you can't break that next level, why not try to bet on yourself?

go somewhere else and try to become a draw, however long you sign, uh, I guess in AEW, we have seen talent from both places go back and forth and people have been very, very uh have s had success uh across the board. Some uh in betweens and that's kind of where you're at. And this is the the amazing time that we're kind of experiencing uh as wrestling fans just because there's options.
