Chapter 2: What comments did Rob Parker make about grown men liking wrestling?
This is the busted open podcast right now at this time. I congratulate you on your positivity. A lot of people being negative. How could you be negative when we had an amazing night two of WrestleMania, which we did. We had a fantastic Monday Night Raw, which we did. And I thought we had an unbelievable NXT last night. So you know what? It's time to be positive.
And I thought you brought that to the table. yesterday with off the ropes with busted open after dark and i'm sure this morning so well thank you for that david you have to be i mean there's a lot of discourse in the world
Forget about discourse in the world of pro wrestling, but discourse in the world and what professional wrestling is supposed to do is take you away from all that discourse and just make you enjoy what you're having. If you hate something so much, why even bother watching it? And I say that about any wrestling show, including TNA.
You should enjoy what you're doing, and if not, hey, go find another hobby in life.
I agree, and I think that with anything, if you're getting that bogged down in the negativity, it might be time to find something else to watch. And here's where my point is coming from, Tommy, before we get into the NXT, is as a community, as a pro wrestling community, which we are, There's certain times where we poke fun, we point fingers, and we go at each other.
And I always dislike that because we're all on the same page, we're all part of the same team, we're all part of the same community. But then there are people from the outside of our community that speak up about pro wrestling that reminds us why we love it and rallies the community around. Case in point, I'm on social media yesterday. And Rob Parker from Fox.
And I think you know who Rob Parker is. We see him sometimes on First Take. You know, he was a frequent guest with Shannon and Skip. Rob Parker, who's been covering baseball for four decades, came out yesterday and took a shot at professional wrestling. And I tweeted at him. He tweeted back. So his quote to me was, let's get it on. So I'm hoping that Rob Parker is a man of his word.
And he joins us this morning here at some point on Busted Open. I know that Paul Ehrlich, our producer, is working hard to get him on. So hopefully before we say goodbye today, Tommy, we're going to talk to him. Now, for those who didn't hear what he had to say, this is what Rob Parker put out and was everywhere on social media yesterday.
I'm just shocked to see ESPN, and I know McAfee was involved, and I get it. He's one of their personalities. Stephen A was there so that they could boo Stephen A, you know, and all that. And that goes with the territory. It just tells you a big guy when they're booing you at an event like that. But it was a big ordeal.

Chapter 3: How do Dave and Tommy respond to negativity in pro wrestling?
I don't know who that was. The laugh track. We'll call him Mr. Laugh Track, the guy who was laughing in the background. But I will say this to Kelvin. So Kelvin, and Kelvin's welcome to come on this show too. And with all respect... Rob Parker and Kelvin, by all means, if you need an explanation, here's the explanation. Okay? So, Mr. Parker, and hopefully he'll join us here on Busted Open.
He said, he quote tweeted me and said, let's get it on. So, I'm guessing that means he'd love to come on our show here on SiriusXM, this major platform. By the way, Mr. Parker. We're not just a podcast talking about wrestling. We're also a radio show talking about wrestling that has its own channel on Sirius XM called Pro Wrestling Nation 24-7.
So there are enough people who not only watch wrestling but like to listen to wrestling talk that constitutes an entire channel of here on Sirius XM. And also, it's the most popular and fastest growing sports channel on the Sirius XM platform. So let's talk that, number one. Number two. You talk about older men. Well, I'm an older man. I'm going to be 55 in July.
I guess that constitutes myself being an older man, which I am. I am a lifelong pro wrestling fan. I never grew out of it. I've always loved it since the day I first saw it in 1982 to right now in 2026. There are so many levels to being a pro wrestling fan. And you know what, Mr. Parker?
I'm actually happy that you said this because every once in a while, we need somebody from the outside that has no idea. No idea what they're talking about to speak out about this and to get the fans to rally around. Case in point, the replies and quote tweets and comments that you have gotten since you put that piece of audio out about WrestleMania and about pro wrestling.
And here's the third part. The last I checked... Football is a kid's game. Baseball is a kid's game. Basketball is a kid's game. How do I know?

Chapter 4: What is the significance of community in professional wrestling?
Because when I was eight years old on the playground, I would play basketball, I would play football, and I was also a baseball player in Little League, playing it when I was eight years old. So it's a kid's game? No. but because of your love and passion for a child's game. A child's game, sir, that you have been covering for 40 years. Baseball is a child's game.
And you have made a living and a career writing and talking about a children's game for four decades. A child's game. A game where children play. But here's the thing, when it comes to baseball and when it comes to wrestling, yes, baseball is a child's game. But your love and passion carries you through to adulthood. And there is a league where adults play a child's game.
In wrestling, there is no bigger and better athletic endeavor Where men and women put their bodies, their health, and their lives on the line for people's enjoyment. Not for five months of the year, but 12 months of the year. Where they're wrestling several days a week. Because something that people fell in love with as a child, they still love as an adult. Now...
I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt, sir. And hopefully you will come on and you and I can have an adult conversation about something that I fell in love with as a child. And maybe help you understand what pro wrestling is and why we love it as much as we do. But when you talk about having people grown out of it, it's like the circus, right?
You, sir, have made an award-winning career covering a child's game. So I respect what you do. You should respect what these people do and what I do. Because you also took a shot at people like me. Like people talk about, you're fuck right I do. I made a career. I've made a career, bought a home, and raised a family talking about professional wrestling.
Like you've made a career talking about a children's game. So hopefully you hear this, and maybe even by the end of today's show, we could sit down and have an adult conversation about the childish things that you said about professional wrestling.
That's a nice rant for being tired, David. Your thoughts. I thought what you said was, as a pro wrestler, I thought what you said was really nice about our industry. And someone that works with you and understands your insanity and crazy, but you're right. I love when people say, yeah, it's fake. I'd be like, oof, if you only knew.

Chapter 5: How does Dave defend the passion for wrestling against criticism?
Or, well, you're not really hitting each other. And I'd be like, well, if you only knew. So, listen, I get it. Wrestling isn't for everybody. Baseball's not for everybody. Football's not for everybody. Hockey's not for everybody. It's something, I understand what he is saying about what you grow out of it. That happens. I totally about going to the zoo. I love going to the zoo.
I made so many I'm going to the zoo for times where I'm in different cities. I never grew out of that. Just like I had a better time. Once I had children and I took them and they got to experience things that I got to experience. But I also do it as adults. And you know how many times my daughter still be like, if we had nothing to do, do you want to go to the zoo? Bronx Zoo is beautiful.
And I disagree with statements like that. It's the same with what you believe in. And I think everybody believes and loves and has passion for different things. And wrestling is one of them. And I know how much people love pro wrestling. We just, I mean, honestly, if you want to compare to real sports, how many places bid for big games? Super Bowl, WrestleMania, SummerSlam, Royal Rumbles.
It's as big of a business. And please correct me if I'm wrong. WWE did better business than UFC this quarter.
Yeah, for probably the last two quarters.
On a publicly traded company. So you know who believes in it? More people that listen to your show.
