02 Jul 2019

Description

Hi folks, Welcome to Season Four of the Central City Opera Podcast! New this year - each episode will have an accompanying Show Notes post with links, photos and more related to that episode. Read on for the show notes for Season 4, Ep. 1 with Alison Moritz and Adam Turner from Madama Butterfly.  SHOW NOTES: Season 4, Episode 1 - Alison Moritz and Adam Turner I loved interviewing director Alison and conductor Adam for the podcast. They are both such friendly and thoughtful people and artists. Make sure to follow their careers by visiting their websites. Click here for Alison's website and here for Adam's website. Both Alison and Adam have been featured on the podcast before, back in Season Two in 2017. Adam conducted Carmen that summer and Alison directed the two one-act operas, Gallantry and Cabildo. Click here to listen to Alison's episode and here for Adam's episode.  During THIS episode (Season 4, Ep. 1) Adam mentioned the Youtube video of Ricardo Chailly conducting the Brescia version of Madama Butterfly at Teatro La Scala. You can watch that video by clicking here.   We didn't mention it on the episode, but as we were catching up before I hit "record," Adam and I talked about his YouTube video series "Motorin' with the Maestro." You've got to check him out - he drives around Richmond, Virginia - where he is Artistic Director and Conductor for Virginia Opera - with a principal artist in the passenger seat. It's great stuff. Click here for Motorin' with the Maestro!  Okay - now onto some photos. Since this summer's production of Madama Butterfly is a remount, that means we have production photos from 2010. All photos are by Mark Kiryluk.  Gorgeous, right? I can't wait to see what Alison does with this production designed originally designed by Dany Lyne in 2005.  That's all for the Show Notes for this first episode of Season Four of the podcast. If you have any questions, email me at [email protected]. Remember, you can buy tickets for performances and find out about all that's happening this season at centralcityopera.org.  -Emily Murdock, Host & Producer
