Chapter 1: What does Lee Mack think about the challenges of recording with a live audience?
hello everybody it's david here just to let you know this is the second part of our chat with lee mac who appeared on last week's ep i think uh it was a nice chunky chat so we split it into two parts this is part two uh lee mac very very funny and uh if you haven't heard listen to the first one listen to that then listen to this uh or do what you want it's your life thank you everybody bye for now
Can I ask one last thing? I've got no plans. Oh, it's set to turn the light on.
Haven't you? Not really. I always imagine, if someone said to me, has Lee Mack got plans now? I'd go, yeah, he's shooting them out all over the place.
How often does that question come up, David?
Do you have any plans today?
We'll film it.
The only person that ever wants to know if I've got any plans, really, is me and my wife.
And us.
And you, now. And even now, it's fake news. You fabricate it. You won't believe what we maxed up to today.

Chapter 2: How does Lee Mack prepare for learning lines in sitcoms?
Yeah. We're backing him.
I'm on downtime. So I've had a bit of downtime. And the next time I do anything, it's my quiz show, the 1% Club. So I've got a bit of downtime.
I've got so into that. I've got the app.
Oh, have you got the app?
Oh, yeah, I've got the app. And I, yeah, it's a great feeling when you get quite, but I've never got.
Just the app? It's the app only for playing along live when it's on telly?
Yeah, yeah. Yeah. And you can, it tells you when you got it wrong, but you can carry on. But I've never, I've never got.
Never on the whole way?
No, I'm a two or three away max. Oh.

Chapter 3: What is the concept behind Lee's quiz show, The 1% Club?
But yes, it's weirdly addictive that.
We should tell Lee about our Pyramind idea.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Oh, what?
Pyramine. Pyramine. I like the name already. Pyramid, but with mind. Pyramine.
Pyramine, yeah, yeah. It's a quiz based around a pyramid. I like it. It's like Chatterbix.
You've got the way of spinning a thing. I thought you should have called this bit we have a guest, Meterbix. Meterbix? Meterbix? Meterbix. Meterbix on Chatterbix. Oh, Meterbix.

Chapter 4: How does Lee Mack pitch new ideas for TV shows?
Yeah. Most of the things. Oh, I see.
Meterbix.
I mean, your show is named after Meterbix.
Haven't you not been? if you don't get it no one else is going to get that no I got it eventually to be fair I thought it was lovely
shredded meat shredded meat shredded meat I like shredded meat I liked it Pyramind it's good it's really good what's Pyramind it's quite confusing it's quite confusing we haven't worked it out yet but I'm losing confidence at it's core you climb up a pyramid when you say climb you don't mean physically it's not an assault course
No, well, it sort of is, but the danger is there's questions and if there's a chance of falling through the pyramid. Don't. What do you mean? You started it.
Yeah, I know, but I'm not so confident.
Look, there's loads of problems. Like, you can't have pensioners on it because they'd break their shins and stuff like that.
It's very important that neither of you attend the pitch meeting for this.

Chapter 5: What challenges does Lee face when working on scripted comedy?
We're halfway home.
Lee, Lee, Lee, Lee. How many times do you get called into a channel to say, hey, we've got an idea for you?
I don't know why I'm whispering. That was... Those days are slightly gone. It's all very emailing now. I do get... I always think to myself, there's two lists, basically. Well, there's loads of lists, but there's the list that you're not on and the list that you are on. The list I am on is when it's me hosting something or being me. And the list I'm not really on is the acting roles.
And that's the battle. So I'm always battling. So whenever I get an email... in the subject heading of the email off my edge, and it'll say, offer something. I go, ooh, this could be, this could be my walk-on part in casualty. Press the button. Pyramind. Pyramind. How's Pyramind?
Chapter 6: How does Lee feel about performing in front of an audience?
And work out the format.
Oh, Wilkinson says, because you always have to do a quote, don't you? You climb a pyramid or something like that, we have to probably work it out.
Well, in our defence... In our defence, Lee, they're really hard. They're really hard to get right.
The pitches are hard. All you need to do is just tag someone on it. I've got an idea. Who's in it? He's in it. All right, we'll do it. That's basically all it takes me, isn't it?
I reckon once a year, I get, no, once every two years, I get an offer where they've forgotten to change your name.
Oh, I've got them. No. No, I've got a few of them. Yeah, yeah. But it starts off with your name changed.
Yeah, yeah. And then they haven't put it in the script.

Chapter 7: What insights does Lee share about the evolution of stand-up comedy?
Because Lee would be proud, and we think Lee's fantastic. So if Brian's free... Yeah, I had one...
God, I can't remember who it was. And it was like, and Petra was like, oh, Lee's turned this down. I said, why is he? And he took me off and probably still did it. But yeah, it was definitely you. So I reckon every couple of years I get a... Get a thing where she, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
But you probably do quite well in the acting. You both do like the acting roles, don't you? I bet you get more offers to act than I do.
How many did you get?
Well, it's not like... Put it one way, if I get offered it, I mention it to my wife. I don't mention the other ones because they're more regular. Right, right. So you fancy doing acting then, Lee? I like doing it because I find it... First of all, the number one rule, I like it when someone else writes stuff, not me.
Yeah.
Because that saves a bit of time, doesn't it?

Chapter 8: What humorous experiences does Lee recount from his career?
Oh!
What about when you're doing Not Going Out and you've got to learn all your lines? How do you do that?
it helps the fact that I wrote them and sometimes I can't remember what the line is and I just say anything and it's right because it was me that thought of the line in the first place what would I probably say here I'll say that and it's usually what's on the script when I did it
I was shocked about how casual like the regulars and you were like about learn lining because I line learning. Learn lining. Shock. Well, I was like day one.
You mean how late in the day? Yeah. Yeah, because you were probably coming at this with that mentality that a lot of people do with studio sitcom. And I did for many years, which is, it's like a theatre show. So you're going out in front of an audience. You wouldn't be nervous like that about lines if there was no audience. But because you're in front of an audience, you go, this has got to be...
I don't want to be shown up in front of all these people and get in it wrong.
Probably a bit, yeah.
But actually, you don't. You soon realise that. The good thing about working with Bobby is you soon realise, you know. You get away with murder knowing your lines. I mean, I don't know who he's like on yours, but Bob's line learning was, you know.
Well, we were writing like shorter, quippier lines for him. He wasn't doing a monologue at any point.
