An Grá Riabhach - Leabhar mhí na Samhna 2016 / Book of the Month - November 2016

28 Oct 2016

Description

[English version below] Is mar fhile go príomha atá aithne ag an saol ar Bhiddy Jenkinson, ach is ealaíonta an scríbhneoir gearrscéalta í freisin, gan aon amhras. Baineann na hocht scéal déag sa chnuasach seo, An Grá Riabhach, le raidhse leathan ábhar agus téamaí - an tseanaois, an mhiotaseolaíocht, cúpláil éisc, cúrsaí creidimh, an gharraíodóireacht - ach tá dhá ghné ann a shnaidhmeann trí gach uile scéal sa chnuasach, mar atá an greann agus carachtracht den scoth. Láithreoir: Róisín Adams Aíonna: Alan Titley agus Caitlín Nic Íomhair [Leagan Gaeilge thuas] Although Biddy Jenkinson is known primarily for her poetry, there is no doubt but that she is an artful short story writer. Though the eighteen stories in this collection, An Grá Riabhach, span a wide range of subjects and themes - old age, mythology, the copulation of fish, religion, gardening - there are two elements that feature in every single story within the collection: humour and excellent characterisation. Presenter: Róisín Adams Guests: Alan Titley and Caitlín Nic Íomhair
