Hello. Hola. Yeah. When you say straight out of boot camp, like literally, how long has it been?
Nine days. Nine days.

Yeah. Last Friday.

Thank you. Yeah, congratulations. Yeah. It's good to see ya. This is the first time I've seen you since being back. So it is, yeah. So handsome. Thank you. Yes, sir. Thank you. Yeah, you look a little different.
A little bit. Yeah.
Mm-hmm. Um today w we're gonna talk a little bit about he went into the military. Bo, of course, is in the Marines. That shouldn't be a secret to anybody else. And b one thing Ben and I both have in common is we're both middle children uh with with siblings that are very type what what type would that be? Type A? Sorry.
Well, I think if you say type A, it communicates the idea.
Yeah. That's right. Right. Um, and I don't know like when I was growing up, college was like, you gotta you gotta go to college. I didn't realize assumed. It was just assumed. Right. And um and today that's shifted a little bit, but Oh That we'll talk about that a little bit and talk about the why going into the military and and doing that, the future and really just to hang out with Ben, right? Before he he gets shipped off to North Carolina. That's right. So so yeah. Bo, why don't you why don't you start a little bit, um Just fill everybody in about you went into the military, why how that came about.
Sure. So I went to college. It was like you said, it was just expected. Um You know, I uh I did well in high school, you know, all everybody in my class. You know, everybody who was in my classes, we all went to college. Yeah. You know, it was just I never considered that I wouldn't do it. And when I went to college, I ended up Uh, recognizing a few things, one of which was High school was kinda easy and I didn't need to give much effort to do well. And when I got to college and I started Um You know, not going to class. Turns out it was a lot harder. And and in a lot of ways, you know, there's a lot of benefits to college outside of the classroom, just growing up emotionally and socially and and not definitely had benefits there, but as
As far as the coursework was concerned, I kinda wasted four years. And at the end of four years, I had an entire another year. that I needed to do to graduate and I had no clue what I wanted to do. I was, you know, frankly, kind of uh disappointed in myself. And when I looked at a lot of the men in my life who I respected the most, there was just a lot of military in there. And you know, the challenge of it appealed to me. I like the idea of serving my country. But that's really not why I went in. I I I went in for selfish reasons in a lot of ways. Like I I needed a very large boot to be stuck up my rear end. I've said it that way uh a a lot of times and and the Marine Corps seemed to have the biggest boot.
I kind of wanted to get fixed and straightened out. And I I liked the challenge of it and and so yeah, I enlisted in the Marine Corps. I did end up finishing college like seven years after I started while I was in the Marine Corps. But um Yeah, I I went in really because I was unhappy with myself and um, you know, thought I needed some help, really. Yeah. And and it worked. They've got a very large boot. They're good at straightening young men out and giving them a purpose and a mission and a challenge and all those things appealed to me. I don't miss it.
Mm.
But I haven't ever regretted doing it.

You know.
And when you left, like y I don't know if I know this. Like how long did you know you were gonna be in the Marines?
I never really I never really anticipated staying in. Like I never considered it a career that I'd go in for twenty years and and enlist.
