There's a difference between doing conflict well and getting the outcome you prefer. Doing conflict well is a process of using your conflict skills, staying curious and open minded. Getting the outcome you prefer means you've persuaded someone you're right or that they should do what you want. Doing conflict well, improves relationships. Getting the one outcome you want gets you the outcome you thought you wanted, even if a different outcome might have satisfied everyone better, including you.
