And then we realized there's a different path.
Whereas the heroine's journey is more about networking and achieving success through community and connection.
This week, these two American girls will find out what it really means to be independent. Do you remember life before email? Yeah, definitely. Like, I remember when I communicated exclusively through a landline. Yeah. Oh, what was your phone number? 747-6502. Oh, mine was 997-1464. My dad's office number was 4568-465. And my Nana's number was 592-6368. It's crazy to me that my brain still effortlessly stores this information. But like today, I can barely remember the phone numbers for my own children. No, really? Yeah. I hope they're not listening to this, but like I don't have to, you know? Yeah. They're hidden in my phone. I mean, everything's hidden in the phone. And the cloud. The cloud. Like how many 99 cent charges do you get once a day for something that exists only in the cloud?
I don't know because that would require me facing the demon that is my email inbox. Yeah. I like barely even check my email anymore. If I look at the email app on my phone, it says that I have 55,000... 424 now unopened emails. 55,000 emails? Like that's too many emails.
Where do they even come from?
Truly, it's criminal. Like all of these are mostly from businesses that I bought something from one time. And now I hear from them every single day. I mean, I know everybody experiences this. Yeah. Why don't you just unsubscribe? I cannot imagine wasting a single precious moment of my life on this watery miracle, hacking through the digital equivalent of the mythical fucking Hydra. How many 99 cent charges are we missing because we can't bear to look through our emails? We can't find the time to unsubscribe from the emails. They're making it impossible to see all the things that we're subscribed to. Right. Because everything is auto paid. Auto shipped. And auto renewed. And it's all automatically draining my bank account.
And we should probably get to the bottom of that. So let's open your budgeting app and take a look. Oh, you know what? That's a great idea.
