So we're finally here at the end of a journey we started over a year ago. It was actually before that. But who's counting? I don't know, maybe that one fan who left a review that said, I like this show, but I never know when the next episode is going to come out. In any case, we've come a long way since Deadheads was just one of the many ideas that we had bouncing around in our heads and in about 850,000 unfinished Google Docs. What a long, strange trip it's been. But maybe not the one you were expecting, because this is not a story about two people getting out of debt. This is a story about two people who are still in debt. So in light of this sad fact, we realize there's just one thing left to do.

It's time to find religion.

I have been writing about debt for nearly four years, but I am still in debt.

But after listening to the songs of Reverend Billy and the Stop Shopping Choir, ironically, I had a not-fake religious awakening.

And we named this podcast after ourselves. Because we know firsthand what it's like to lose sleep over debt. To live in denial over debt. To get out of debt, but find ourselves falling back into it. But most importantly, to start questioning why and how. America became a country full of debt heads.
When I first started facing down my debt all those years ago, I had to overcome my shame around spending.
