Good evening, everybody. Uh welcome in. A little more like uh what you would call football weather. But after all, uh the first day of uh fall got here what twenty-four hours ago or sometime yesterday, uh within the last Twenty four to thirty-six hours. And uh for the eleventh time under Kirk Farrant's direction, the Hawkeyes are three and oh out of the gate after uh three impressive victories, two shutouts and a and an edging of the Iowa State Cyclones a couple weeks back. Uh Saturday it's on the road and here comes uh big boy football, as they say.
Big boy, big ten football as the Hawks open up uh uh the uh twenty twenty six campaign in Ann Arbor against the Michigan Wolverines. That has a great ring to it. The Hawks haven't been to the big house since uh twenty nineteen uh in my uh pregame prepping today and uh it's just the third time Iowa's been to uh Michigan since two thousand twelve. Fifteen years, three trips uh the last time the Hawks won in Ann Arbor was uh twenty ten. That was a 38-28 uh victory. Uh lots of great memories since then, because the Hawks have won a number of times in Iowa City. But Michigan's won four in a row. Prior to that, the Hawkeyes had won five of six. So the last decade, fifteen years, it's been pretty, uh, pretty, uh, pretty much a straight up uh punch in the nose, punch counter punch, and uh Saturday's game shouldn't be any different.
Uh we've got two outstanding uh two outstanding defenses that are gonna uh take the field uh uh in the big house and before a hundred and uh nine or a hundred and five thousand, whatever it's seats, uh it's gonna be loud and it's gonna be uh a great experience uh for this uh young Iowa football team. And I was so encouraged with the play uh uh of Hank Brown uh last week, uh really the last two weeks, not only against the Cyclones, but certainly against UNI. I mean a perfect ten for ten? Doesn't get much better in that, or what was he, twelve for twelve. Uh it's the first time Iowa's been uh a a perfect uh a ten since uh I think it was uh Brad Banks or uh Ricky Stanze. I'll double check my notes on that went ten for ten.
So bottom line is whether it was twelve straight passes or fifteen or eight, uh Hank Brown is really maturing right before our eyes and gave a great account of himself. Uh and and if for no other reason, uh the Hawks have not not turn the ball over in three games. And I don't care who you're playing or when you're playing them, if you don't turn the ball over, you've got a great chance to win. Especially on the road and especially uh in uh Ann Arbor, whether you're in Columbus Whether you're in uh State College or Ann Arbor, uh more than most, if uh if you don't turn the ball over in in those venues you got a chance to pull out a victory. Also for the first time in uh What nineteen eighty three uh forty some years the Hawkeyes had three one hundred yard rushers last week.
Uh Xavier Williams, Braden Jackson, and Nathan McNeil all topped one hundred. The most amazing stat uh among that threesome was uh Xavier Williams got his in in what four carries? His uh twenty-five yards per carry he was averaging.
