Winter weather hammers the southeast. I'm Ted Lindner, Fox News. North Carolina slammed this weekend by record snow. Fox Weather's Haley Meyer has the story in Greenville.
The top report out of North Carolina, 22.5. That's higher up in the elevation, so you have some orographic lift, can squeeze out some more snow.
Chapter 2: How has North Carolina been impacted by recent snow events?
Overall, people are really enjoying this generational type snow event. This is the fourth snowiest North Carolina has ever been in its state history and the snowiest it's seen since 2004. The aftermath of this is both beautiful but also dangerous. The official report coming out of the town and from the National Weather Service office coming at 8.5 inches.
The local governments, local officials are saying it's going to take at least three days to get all of the roads cleared.
North Carolina's Governor Josh Stein delivering an update Sunday evening saying two people have died amid 1,000 vehicle collisions. Despite the bitter cold, anti-ice protests continue in Minneapolis. Fox's Brooke Taylor says overall it was a quieter day as President Trump's announced he's changing how the federal government will respond to unrest in some cities.
He wrote this on Truth Social. I've instructed Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem that under no circumstances are we going to participate in various poorly run Democrat cities with regard to their protests and or riots unless and until they ask us for help.

Dilley's the same place it was holding preschooler Liam Canejo Ramos and his father. The two were just returned to their home in Minnesota, but migrant advocacy groups are saying many other children and families are still at Dilley. Jill Nadeau. Fox News.
