Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
Anger at ice. I'm Paul Stevens. Fox News protests across the country flaring up. Many speaking out against a fatal shooting last week where an ice officer opened fire on a woman in Minneapolis.
Chapter 2: What sparked the protests in Minneapolis?
Fox's Matt Finn is in Minneapolis.
The anti-ice demonstrations here in Minneapolis seem to be getting larger. There was a massive group, a sea of people at Powderhorn Park here in Minneapolis. And that's a notable location because it's where former city council members here initially announced their defund and dismantle the police movement during the George Floyd riots. They sparked a nationwide movement that has now failed.
After demonstrations in the park, protesters marched down Lake Street. It was a different scene from what we saw in 2020 when parts of Lake Street were set on fire during the George Floyd riots. Now, Minneapolis police say well over 1,000 protesters and some rioters damaged parts of the Renaissance and Canopy hotels downtown Friday.
And the Department of Homeland Security claims that Renee Nicole Good tried to weaponize her vehicle, quote-unquote, to hit ICE officials. Critics denying that claim. Meantime, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem on Fox's Sunday Morning Future saying earlier ICE's operations will continue.
And I'll remind everybody that if you get involved and impede a law enforcement operation, you are breaking the law. That is a crime. And at that point in time, that individual needs to be arrested and taken in and charged and convicted.
Meantime, Minnesota Democratic Mayor Jacob Frey saying you don't have to believe either side. He believes the videos are telling the story.
You had a person that was definitively trying to just get out of there. They were trying to leave the scene.
Mayor Frey earlier today on NBC's Meet the Press. The Golden Globe Awards being held tonight. Coming back again to host Nikki Glaser for the second straight year. Paul Michael Anderson's one battle after another leading the film nominations on the TV side. The White Lotus leads with six nominations. America's listening to Fox News.
This is Ainsley Earhart. Thank you for joining me for the 52-episode podcast series, The Life of Jesus.
