A deadly storm batters the east coast. I'm Kathleen Maloney, Fox News. One man killed by a falling tree in Brooklyn. More than forty million people across ten states, feeling the effects of heavy rain, damaging winds, and coastal flooding. Fox's Caroline Elliott reports from Long Beach, New York.
Officials have told people really at this time to just stay off the roads, especially if they're seeing areas that are this flooded. And we will tell you, for the most part, that's what we've seen out here. We've seen a lot of drivers pulling up, seeing this water, and then turning around because they want to be safe about this. Now, on a positive note, we have seen those uh wind speeds die down significantly this afternoon. We know that high wind warning expired. And since then we've seen those winds die down quite a bit. But looking overnight, some of those wind totals were quite impressive. We saw areas of Montauk clock wind speeds at eighty-one miles per hour. JFK saw fifty-six miles per hour. So again, some damage in terms of down trees and down power lines.

Folks here at Reagan National Airport have been spared the worst. They've been seeing some delays in cancellations, but certainly not what we're seeing further up north. Now we head to Boston Logan's Airport as well as New York City's LaGuardia Airport.
Why are officials urging drivers to avoid flooded roads during the storm?
They are topping the misery map in the northeast right now. About six hundred flights have been delayed in LaGuardia and about two hundred delayed in Logan. Logan is also seeing the most cancellations at the moment with roughly three hundred flights cancelled. Reagan National here has more than one hundred delays and twelve cancellations. Fierce winds have knocked out power for thousands of customers, but there has been some improvement. There are at least thirty seven thousand outages in New Jersey, down from more than fifty thousand in the last hour.
