This means a final vote on Senator Mullen's nomination will occur this week, possibly as early as mid to late Monday. Mullen's nomination was narrowly forwarded out of the Senate Homeland Security Committee by an eight to seven vote. In this full Senate vote, two Democratic senators, New Mexico's Martin Heinrich and Pennsylvania's John Fetterman, supported Mullen.

President Trump is threatening Iran in an effort to open up the Strait of Hormuz.
He said on Truth Social, either reopen the Strait of Hormuz or we'll strike your power plants. They have less than 48 hours to comply. This morning, Tehran is pushing back on that threat, vowing to retaliate if the U.S. attacks its energy sites. Now, the president has called on NATO allies and says they're cowards for not sending warships to help defend the Strait.
He claims this should be a global effort. This morning, the NATO Secretary General said countries support the U.S., but still are in the planning phase of sending help. And the president says the U.S. is very close to meeting their objectives with Operation Epic Fury and could be winding down military efforts in the Middle East.
