The president says Iran wants a ceasefire. A spokesman for Iran's foreign ministry saying, quote, we will not tolerate this vicious cycle of war, negotiation, ceasefire, and then repeating the same pattern.
European leaders are meeting virtually today about keeping the Strait of Hormuz open to oil shipping traffic. Oil prices are up more than 7% today. The Senate could take up a revived plan as soon as this morning to end the partial government shutdown.
