Chapter 1: What are the latest developments in Iran's anti-regime protests?
President Trump calls for new leadership in Iran. I'm Jack Callahan, Fox News. As the death toll from the crackdown on the anti-regime protests continue.
Trump telling Politico Saturday that Iran's supreme leader is a sick man who should stop killing his people. Thousands have reportedly been killed nationwide over the past three weeks. Thousands more have been injured or arrested, and the country remains under a near total communications blackout. Protests began last month over Iran's crippling economy, corruption, and calls for regime change.
President Trump is still weighing possible military and non-military action, including cyber attacks and direct strikes. The U.S. is also moving more military resources to the region. Iran's Supreme Leader calls Trump a criminal and blames him for the deaths. Tehran warns it will retaliate if the U.S. attacks.
Fox's Chandlee Painter, the president also confirming any country working with Iran will be hit with an extra 25 percent tariff, including China, Russia and Brazil. President also slapping new tariffs on NATO countries which don't support American control of Greenland.
The president saying on to social starting on February 1st, 2026, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the United Kingdom. The Netherlands and Finland will be charged a 10% tariff on any and all goods sent to the United States of America. On June 1st, 2026, the tariff will be increased to 25%.
This tariff will be due and payable until such time as a deal is reached for the complete and total purchase of Greenland. French President Emmanuel Macron saying no intimidation nor threat will influence us. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer saying we will of course be pursuing this directly with the US administration. We'll see if this includes retaliatory tariffs against the United States.
And there are questions, too, over the legality of these tariffs, with the Supreme Court set to issue a ruling in the coming days.
