Following a lengthy discussion with prosecutors and defense lawyers, Judge Gregory Caro set Luigi Mangione's New York State murder trial for June 8th. Mangione's lawyers objected to the June date, telling the judge that at that time they'll be consumed with preparing for Mangione's federal trial, which is set to start on September 8th. The judge's answer, quote, be ready. Mangione also spoke out in court in protest of the date, telling the judge, quote, it's the same trial twice, double jeopardy by any common sense definition. It was our first time being at an opening ceremony. It's my first time at the Olympics. So just being able to see something that I've seen on TV for many years in person was just an incredible experience.
