What is the purpose of this episode and who are the hosts?
Generally speaking, we do not question a lot of massive massively impactful ways that we do things. Uh so we don't have the conversation at all. We just it's the way we've always done it, so that's the way we're gonna keep doing it.
Welcome to Tilt Parenting, a podcast featuring interviews and conversations aimed at inspiring, informing, and supporting parents raising differently wired kids. I'm your host, Debbie Rieber, and we're doing things a little differently today. In this special episode, I am bringing you an honest, deep diving conversation about the current state of education for differently wired children. Or more to the point, what isn't working and why? And who better to have this conversation with than our favorite former teacher turn education and executive functioning coach, Seth Perler. Seth and I hear from parents every day how do we get our teachers on board? How do we get the school to understand? How can we help the school to get it?
So, this is exactly what we set out to tackle. We have identified 10 of the biggest problems we feel need to be solved in order to improve the school experience for children who are not thriving. In our discussion, In this discussion, Seth and I draw from our personal and professional experiences, from the countless messages we get from parents and teachers in the trenches, and from our deeply held beliefs in the strengths of our differently wired kids and the importance of helping them thrive. Our hope is that parents will listen and then share this episode with the teachers, principals, and school administrators in their lives. Because in order for us to solve these problems, we have to have honest and open conversations.
So we're hoping this episode sparks just that. So with that, I just want to say welcome to any educators and school administrators who might be listening to this podcast for the first time. I am so glad you're here and I want to offer this conversation in that spirit of collaboration and gratitude for the work that you do every day. Oh, and after you've listened, whether you're a parent or an educator, we want to hear from you. So Seth and I have put together a Google form, which you'll find a link to on the show notes page. The show notes are at tiltparenting.comslash session one eighty seven. We want to continue this conversation and get your feedback. So we want to know your top concerns and your issues as well as your top takeaways from the first.
From this episode. And as an FYI, we've also recorded this conversation as a video, and you can watch that on Seth's YouTube channel. And just quickly before I get to the conversation, for those of you who are new to Tilt Parenting, we have just hit the 1.6 million downloads mark for this show. And over the past three and a half years, I've released more than 180 conversations with authors and therapists, educators, parents, and neurodivergent adults and children. So if you want to go back and check out episodes, you can hone in on those that are relevant to you by going to Tilt Parenting, clicking on the podcast tab, and then selecting the themes you're most interested in hearing more about. Everything from giftedness or twice exceptionality to learning differences, and there's even a whole section just on education and school.
