Tonight's adventure starts off in the city of Aksum in Ethiopia. In ancient times, this city was the heart of the Aksumite Empire. Which had influence over much of modern day Ethiopia, Eritrea. Chibouti. and parts of Somalia. Walking around the modern city of Axum. You can see remnants of the old empire. which lasted from the first to the seventh century CE. Obelisks and stele are surrounded by ruins. The stone monuments reach up into the sky. Filled with clues about the ancient history of the place. The warm air, bustling markets and busy streets remind you that kings, philosophers, artists, and all sorts of other people have inhabited this place for thousands of years.
