Hey everyone, welcome to the Group Dentistry Now show. I'm Bill Newman and thanks for joining us today. Always have such great conversations and excited about this one. Uh I have known about elite dental partners actually when I think I think Elite was founded and I might be corrected here, but I don't think so in twenty fourteen. So that's uh right around the time that we actually founded group dentistry now. So we've got uh we both kind of started in the group practice DSO space uh at the same time, which If you look at the you know the industry and how it's changed in the past twelve years, and we're gonna discuss the changes that uh elite's gone through, and then also I think the industry's gone through.
Bill Neumann 2:07
It's it's uh a relatively short period of time. I think the industry's really matured. So I'm really excited to have uh Dr. Victoria Yu with us. She is the CEO and chief dental officer. Ad elite dental partners. Victoria, thanks for for joining us today.
Dr. Victoria Yu 2:24
Thanks, Bill. Thanks for having me.
Bill Neumann 2:26
And we also have with us uh Andy Storman. He is the vice chair of direct lending and gollub growth at Gollup Capital. So Andy, thanks for for jumping in here as well.
Andy Steuerman 2:38
Thank you for making me an honorary dental provider.
Bill Neumann 2:42
There you go. Uh uh, it's uh it's good to have you here. It'd be great to get your perspective on things as as well, Andy. Um Victoria, why don't we start with you? Maybe a little bit about your background prior to joining Elite, what drove you to join the organization, and then talk a little bit about your roles there.
Dr. Victoria Yu 3:02
Yeah, thank you, Bill. Um, you know, I've uh I am a general dentist by trade. Um, I think I've held uh a lot of the jobs a dentist would desire to have. Um I started out as uh an associate at a regional um or actually at a fee for service uh dental office and really believed that, you know, DSOs were evil because that's what we were taught in dental school. Um and then quickly learned. learned that DSOs are not evil because I went to one um subsequent to that and uh found a lot of mentorship success um and my passion for uh giving patients uh utmost of care. Um, then that merged with uh the largest DSO in the land. Um was able to to provide care there for and and started a de novo practice, then grew my own practices in uh the state of Maryland where I live.
Dr. Victoria Yu 3:54
merged those two uh with a small uh budding DSO that started out um Bill in in Philly. Um uh that's that's where we were headquartered. Um we had 15 sites when I joined as chief clinical officer. And by the time we'd exited um we'd gotten to 600 sites across the nation. Uh a lot of great work by the exec team, um a lot of wonderful partners, very talented people. Subsequent to that, I went to run uh the dental clinics for Walmart. Um, had the pleasure of being there alongside some world class leaders, um, and then came over to Elite after I think I had uh just one conversation with Andy really. Um what a what an What a wonderful organization and what wonderful partners um I have uh and a leader I have uh Andy and the Gollup team.
