Hey everyone. Welcome to the Dentistry Now Show. I'm Bill Newman. And as always, we appreciate you uh joining us today. We've got um it's I I love doing these podcasts. I uh yeah I I I come from a clinical background. I I worked for a dental manufacturer and worked with a lot of restorative hygiene, um, some endodonic products and love to to geek out about uh different different solutions and we're gonna we're gonna talk clinical so if you are A dentist or hygienist or clinical director, or if you're on the business side of dentistry and you're working in uh procurement or and want to learn more about dental products, this is definitely going to be a great uh podcast for you. You're gonna learn a lot today.
Bill Neumann 1:26
So we wit we have with us two guests, actually, two new guests to the show. Um, we have Caitlin Short and She is the DSO manager for Essential Dental Systems. You might know them as EDS Dental. And we have uh Shauna Greer. She is an RDH, a registered dental hygienist. And she has has a lot of experience working in a group practice or a DSO setting. So Kate Lynn and Shauna, uh, thank you both for being on today. It's it's great to talk to you both.
Katelyn Short 1:59
Yeah, thank you for having me.
Bill Neumann 2:02
Well great. Um Caitlin, why don't we kick things off with you, if you wouldn't mind just kind of filling in the audience about your backgrounds, uh and and your you know, maybe what you did prior to joining ADS and what your role is at at um essential dental systems.
Katelyn Short 2:20
Uh yeah, absolutely. So um I actually started in the dental field working as a chair side assistant for several years. Um and then in 2022 I transitioned over to EDS and I'm their special markets account manager.

How do Katelyn Short and Shauna Greer describe their professional backgrounds and roles?

Katelyn Short 2:36
So in this role, um I really enjoy working side by side directly with DSOs, onboarding and educating their clinicians. um on innovative solutions that enhance clinical outcomes and practice efficiency. And it's been really, really neat to see both sides of the dental field and utilize that experience as a dental assistant in this current role.
Bill Neumann 3:01
Yeah, and that's it's great that you have that clinical background. I'm sure you um you know that that gives I think you uh an edge as a salesperson. Um and I think I think it resonates with a lot of clinicians, any sometimes you get somebody that maybe is really, you know, good at sales, but may maybe doesn't necessarily have that that clinical background where you understand the the actual applications, the day in and day out with the solutions that that EDS uh central dental systems has. Um Shauna is uh she's a hygienist and she's actually worked in a DSO several DSO settings. And group practice settings. So, Shauna, thank you for being here. Can you talk a little bit about your experience and background?
Shawna Greer 3:49
Absolutely. Um I graduated from Dental Hygiene School in twenty sixteen and I worked for the same office since graduating. Um and we were Previously, uh one DSO and then that another DSO bought that DSO out. So I've essentially worked for DSO my entire career. Um, and I'm really excited about this conversation. I'm really passionate about like real world workflows and anything that helps make our clinical days easier. So working clinically and as an educator, I feel like this is really important for hygienists to know and understand. and why products like these exist.
Bill Neumann 4:29
Thanks, Shauna. Um Caitlin For the people in the audience, I think a lot of clinicians probably, you know, know essential dental systems. Probably some don't. A lot of times they know the products, but not necessarily the company behind the the solution. So can you talk a little bit about essential dental systems?
