What is the purpose of the Summer Brainstorm Stack for busy moms?

Jess Przulj 0:01
hey hey mamas welcome to focus stack thursday this is the new format for our thursday episodes where we're gonna take what we talked about on monday and we're gonna apply that conversation to your real life giving you action steps or simple stack challenges anything that you can take and actually apply over your weekend So this is your opportunity to stack right alongside me, rework, redesign the routines that you live in your life. Let's get to it. Hey, hey, mamas. Welcome back to another Focus Stack Thursday. As I mentioned when we started this new format, these Thursday episodes are meant to be short, practical, and focused. I want you focused on implementing. My hope is that each week I can give you one thing to focus on just over the weekend so that you're not just listening to the podcast and taking it all in.

You know, we have a tendency to take so much of it in and we never turn around and say, okay. Let me apply this. Take action on what you're actually learning. So today I want to talk about something that I think a lot of moms are feeling right now. You may or may not realize it. There is tremendous pressure surrounding summer. That's what we talked about on Monday's episode. And we spend all spring racing towards the finish line, which we would call summer, right? We get done with all the school events, sporting schedules, field trips, graduations, performances, teacher gifts, everything. All of that somehow gets crammed into the month of May and we're running and we're going and we get up and it's Monday and it's Friday before you know it.

Then all of a sudden school is out and those routines instantly change and we find ourselves standing at the beginning of summer. feeling like we should somehow make the next couple months amazing. Like now we got to go into this whole big transition. And I think a lot of moms carry an invisible pressure to make summer magical. We want those memories, we want them to have fun, and we want them to enjoy being home versus being at school with their kids. So we need to take advantage of that extra time that we have together because obviously everyone reminds us that these years move quickly. But what often happens is that we move so quickly from survival mode in May into managing summer. That we never actually stop to think about what does success look like for your family this summer?
Jess Przulj 2:43
So we start reacting. We sign up for the things. We agree to the things. You know, you say yes to everything.

Why do moms feel invisible pressure to make summer “magical”?

Jess Przulj 2:50
I know you're listening and giggling because we do. We're like, yeah, sure, we can do that. You just keep saying yes. You agree to all the things. You put it on your calendar and you fill those weekends up. And you start to look at it and all of a sudden you're like, wait, oh my goodness, I only have like two weekends that don't have something on them. And before we know it, summer is booked. It's fully booked. We have so much stuff that we're doing this summer. I hear it all the time. And I was actually thinking about this recently because summer has a funny way of creating that illusion that we have all this extra time. Oh, summer's coming. We have free time, right? We look at the calendar and we see these weeks stretched out in front of us and it feels like there's room for everything.
Jess Przulj 3:34
Then life starts happening. Vacations get scheduled and 10 people are coming to town all of a sudden and friends want to have cookouts and family events pop up. Someone signs up for a camp or VBS and somebody says, well, I've decided to do this sport. And all of a sudden those wide open weeks, they're just not wide open anymore. And most moms end up with summer disappointment because they didn't do enough, because all the things started filling up their day. And they just, it's not that they didn't do anything. It's just that they never defined what doing enough actually was. Stopping long enough to decide what would make you, mama, feel proud when you look back on the season. You never ask yourself, what memories matter to you?
Jess Przulj 4:20
Because you're going to have memories of these summers.
