What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
But balance isn't as simple as giving it one quick definition because it can look completely different for every mom. The way balance is applied will be different depending on your family, your responsibilities, and the season you're in. But the basic principle of balance is still the same. There has to be enough weight on both sides to keep you steady of whatever you're doing. When one side becomes too heavy, you begin to lean. Eventually something starts to wobble or break and you completely fall. Hey mama, welcome to the Habit Stacking Mom Show. Do you want to feel less exhausted and burnt out by motherhood? Do you find yourself up late at night googling daily routines and more energy? Do you wake up with big, ambitious goals only to feel overwhelmed managing everyone else's expectations and ignoring your own?
Hey, I'm Jess. I too am a mom of littles who teetered on the edge of burnout. I felt extremely defeated chasing kids all day, and I wished I didn't feel like a constant failure. I wanted to stop losing patience with my kids and husband and create some structure, but the unpredictability in my home, I had no idea how to make that happen until I found a better way to organize my daily routines. In this podcast, you will find a plan to create balance, strategies to declutter your home and mind and tips to boost your energy and confidence. You'll feel so much more accomplished each day and show up stronger for your family. It's time to pop in your ear pods, shake up your fizz and let's get stacking. Hey, mamas, welcome back.
Well, it's official. We are officially in the last week of summer here in Middle Tennessee. Everyone asks me, are you getting excited? And my answer is yes. I am so ready for routines to return. But I have to say, honestly, like, holy smokes, there is so much that has to get done before the school year. It's crazy. It's almost like it sneaks up on you and yet you know it's coming. But somehow you're like, man, there's just so much that gets thrown on your plate like right before school starts. And if that's you, you need to go grab my reset planner down in the show notes. It probably will be a very useful tool for you as you do begin to prepare for the shift of seasons. You may not be starting school like us, but when you do, this is a great tool.
Just scroll to the bottom of this episode and you can grab it there in the show notes. My oldest daughter's ninth birthday is on Saturday of this week. And because apparently we didn't have enough going on already, we're deciding to throw a big birthday party at the house. She just loves having all of her friends over to swim. And it's her golden birthday, which she has told me now for the better part of six months. Like, don't forget, mom. It's my golden birthday. So she's been counting down the days, planning her ideas, all the things. And so we had an invite list. And she asks me at least three times a day, has anyone RSVP'd that we need to make sure we're counting? Like, she's so into this and excited.
I can't even explain it. The thing is, though, Saturday is literally two days before school starts. So everyone comes always. She's always the birthday that kicks off the school year. And since everyone's in town, we basically get 100% yes for the RSVPs. So we always have to be very careful with the size of our list because it can grow really fast. She's absolutely ecstatic, and honestly, I am too. It's just very sweet, celebrating her birthday and my other two girls that happen to be in the fall as well. It's just a challenge, though, when you're kicking off a school year and, oh yeah, throwing a giant birthday party. It's like one more thing on an already very full calendar. But I always find this time of year really interesting because it tests my skill sets.
It really is my opportunity to practice what I preach. I spend so much time talking with all of you mamas about plan ahead, stay prepared, organize your week in advance, and make sure you're creating habits that make you feel less chaotic.
