Why do busy moms keep hoping their priorities will magically happen?
Hey, hey mamas, welcome to Focus Stack Thursday. This is the new format for our Thursday episodes where we're going to take what we talked about on Monday and we're going to apply that conversation to your real life, giving you action steps or simple stack challenges, anything that you can take and actually apply over your weekend. So this is your opportunity to stack right alongside me, rework, redesign the routines that you live in your life. Let's get to it. Hey mamas, welcome back. So before we start, go to the show notes, scroll all the way down to the bottom and grab the weekly focus guide. It is down there in the show notes. It's just a link. Click on it because today it's going to get you thinking.
You're gonna be thinking so hard and you're gonna wanna use that tool as a reflection guide to hopefully help you start planning a little bit differently as you go into the school year that's on its way. And I also have a reset planner down there in the show notes too. that you may want to have as you're kind of thinking through all these things like, ooh, I got a lot of stuff to do. Go grab those free guides before hitting play today. On Monday, we talked about creating balance before the school routines hit us. Balance being the key word. And I shared that picture of a balance beam. We thought through what that looks like when one side slowly becomes heavier than the other side. And I hope you have that visual in your mind's eye right now.
You can picture it very clearly. Someone's walking down the balance beam or on a tightrope. And in both hands, they're holding two plates. one in each hand. One side holds everything your family needs from you. The other side holds the things that keep you healthy, energized, organized, and feeling like yourself. Basically, it keeps the pieces of you that make you feel like you're still there. The part you have disconnected from over the last several years of learning to become a mom. We all go through the same process. And that can be true whether you're six months postpartum or 10 years postpartum. It doesn't really matter how long you've been disconnected from yourself. What's most important is that today you now can recognize it and you identify that you
What is the biggest Sunday planning mistake that derails the week?
There's nothing wrong. It's very normal. But you have to stop putting your own needs at the bottom of the list. And today, I want to help you fix that. Because I believe that this is the biggest mistake moms make every single Sunday. It isn't forgetting the groceries or forgetting to meal prep. It isn't even poor time management. The biggest mistake is assuming that somehow, somewhere during the week, your priorities are going to just magically happen. And then what's worse is the week runs us over and we think, oh, I just, I just can't get it together. Well, you didn't set yourself up in the first place. So typically, when we sit down to look at our upcoming week, we look at that next week's calendar and we see soccer and dance, meetings, doctor's appointments, school.
Work, birthday parties, laundry, dinner. That's what you're thinking when you're sitting down to plan your next week and we're thinking, I will find time to work out. I'll probably get to meal prep or I really should organize that closet when I have time. I need to start taking better supplements for more energy. I want to read this week or I need to work on my business. But here's the problem. Did you notice what they all have in common? Hope. You hope you can do those things. Well, hope is not a schedule. We treat our priorities like they're leftovers and we assume they'll fit in whatever space remains after everyone else has been taken care of. But let's be honest, there usually isn't any space left.
So Monday comes, Monday turns into Tuesday, Tuesday becomes Wednesday, and by Thursday, we're like, well, I just don't really have a lot of time, so maybe I'll look at next week and try to do it then. Well, the truth, if I can be bold and honest with you, you weren't supposed to find the time. You were supposed to create it.
