Why does cleaning feel impossible during busy summer months?
The human mind is so simple, As long as I can see progress, I feel good. I feel motivated. The minute I stop seeing progress, I don't want to do it anymore. And that's what motherhood is. Progress is the opposite of what we see, because we have it on the daily basis. It's the same thing over and over, and we're not making progress on anything. And if we did make progress, it usually doesn't last. Especially when it comes to cleaning our house. Hey mama, welcome to the Habit Stacking Mom Show. Do you want to feel less exhausted and burnt out by motherhood? Do you find yourself up late at night Googling daily routines and more energy? Do you wake up with big, ambitious goals only to feel overwhelmed managing everyone else's expectations and ignoring your own?
Hey, I'm Jess. I too am a mom of littles who teetered on the edge of burnout. I felt extremely defeated chasing kids all day, and I wished I didn't feel like a constant failure. I wanted to stop losing patience with my kids and husband and create some structure, but the unpredictability in my home I had no idea. How to make that happen. Until I found a better way to organize my daily routines. In this podcast, you will find a plan to create balance, strategies to declutter your home and mind, and tips to boost your energy and confidence. You'll feel so much more accomplished each day and show up stronger for your family. It's time to pop in your ear pods, shake up your fizz, and let's get stacking. Hey mamas, welcome back.
Sure hope that you had an amazing Fourth of July weekend, that you were able to just enjoy that time with your family. Our weather here in Nashville was a little bit horrid. Had some crazy, crazy hot, steamy weather. I think we had some weather advisories or heat advisories leading up to the weekend, but it was still so beautiful. I had some family in town. We did a lot of sparklers and swimming and cooking out for our country's 250th birthday. It was really a special time, and I hope that you did as well.
How does the constant flow of guests and pool‑side chaos erase cleaning progress?
Our family, we always host this big party with all of our neighbors and friends that come from. out of town. The house is full. The kids are running around. There's food and flies everywhere. But by the end of the night, we head over to Crockett Park, which is right by our house for the fireworks. Hopefully. You guys have a similar tradition because this is the one that my girls look so forward to. We get the tattoos, we get the the red, white, and blue glitter, all the things that get so excited for this holiday. And I do too. I absolutely love holidays, the ability to slow down, make those memories, enjoy the people that I love. But it is funny because slowing down looks a lot different when you're a mom, doesn't it?
It just looks a little different. For most. For most people, slowing down means putting your feet up, reading a book, taking a nap, or maybe just enjoying a slower pace. But for moms, vacations, weekends, summers. They don't work that way. They are not relaxing. It's slow time because everybody else is slowing down. But for us, the only thing that changes is the schedule. The kids are still home. Maybe the pool is open and the days are way less structured. That's the only thing that changes from a weekend to the summer to winter break, all these breaks. And we tell ourselves that summer should be slower. We should slow down. But if you're anything like me, which I have to assume some of you are if you're listening to my podcast, it can actually feel
Like you're working just as hard or probably harder without all that structure because the structure is not there anymore to support your day. That's how I feel it's been like at our house this summer. We've done all the hosting. So many people have come to visit, which I love. We've had family in town, neighbors come over, all the kids come from next door. They're always coming over, and our house has been super full. So it's been a really fun season, but it's been nonstop. I'm constantly washing towels, picking up swimsuits that end up in every room, literally every room.
