you were so many... hats the more i watched your content i was like oh wow he's really a big deal and i'm so impressed by all the things you do and the one of the things i'm most impressed by is the fact that you teach latin

oh wow like we were just talking about it the other day like who is still speaking latin and the fact that you taught latin like can we start there because
that is
wild
It is wild. It's crazy because I was like, I think I had this notion in my head that I was going to be a doctor one day. The problem, though, if you're not good at science, I failed biology, but I did really well in Latin because I was just so good at memorizing. It was just nice to not have to speak it because with Latin, it's not the same. Like you're not you're not going to Starbucks and ordering in Latin. So fun fact, you know why they call their largest venti?
Well, that's 20 ounces, right?
Yeah, because it comes from the Italian word for 20, which comes from the Latin word viginti. And
Spanish is venti, isn't it?
Vente. Yeah, it's vente because Spanish is the son or daughter of Latin. Italian and Spanish are siblings.
How did you sell it? Like, hey, you're going to need this? Never.
I was like, you know what you should do? What? It's like taking your brain to the gym. It was cool because you could do anything in Latin. Like if you were interested in literacy, we could talk about any book. If you were interested in Harry Potter, well, the spells are in Latin. If you love the Hunger Games, well, it's all based on Rome, but in a modern era.
I did take Latin when I was in middle school. And Latin really does come in handy when you're learning anatomy.
Yeah. And
I'm reading vocab. Okay. I'm a spelling bee champion because I'm Latin seeped in and I just can figure out the root word. It just all kind of clicks in my head. A little basis of Latin, you can decipher a meaning of a word. How did I not know this? I swear we've been
best friends for 10 years and I'm still learning something new. I know.
Okay.
That's what Latin for me was just cool. It was like something different. I didn't have to worry about speaking and listening. A lot of the kids now are taking it if they have like auditory processing issues or a little anxiety. It's like safe haven for some of those kids. And you get to talk about warfare. I would spend every Wednesday talking about warfare.
What? Yeah,
we're studying. You're studying Julius Caesar, he's known for warfare. And like some of the things our army does today still based on that. So like, whenever the kids are bored, I'm just like, hey, let's talk about bloodshed on a battlefield. They're like, they're locked in. They're like, I'm ready. So I loved it. It was it was my favorite thing to teach.
You're over here learning Spanish. I think I'm going to take up Latin again.
