Hockey! My favorite. It's Judd's Hockey Show. Yes, it is another edition of Judd's Hockey Show. It's just another edition where we're going to talk about another wild win. They pick up right where they left off going into the Olympic break. They were 8-1-1 before the break. They come out last night, Age, and they get a 5-2 victory against the Avs in Colorado. A lot to talk about here.
Gustafson was outstanding. Boldy, four points. There's a lot to talk about. But here's where I want to start. That's pretty impressive. That's pretty impressive when you are going to play one of the best teams, if not the best team, in the entire league. And you come out a little bit flat, outshot, which is fine.
Clearly, that was a fun game, but it was a sloppy, sort of murky game for a while as far as play style went. But that, to me, was... It's an important win because it answers some questions. How are you going to come back from the break? How are your Olympic guys going to look?
You're playing a really good team, so you're not starting off with a bad team, which actually might help you increase your compete and things like that. Gustafsson stops 44 shots on 45 or 44 saves on 45 shots. pukes in the crease near the end of the game and then skates off and poor Jesper Valstead comes in and immediately gives up one goal on two shots.
But I just thought from a takeaway standpoint for a way to come back from the break and assert yourself. That's one of the more impressive wins just as far as all of those important factors being put together to now pull within five points of the avalanche.
Yeah, last time you're going to meet Colorado in the regular season in the wild, make the most of it. No, actually, they're going back there. Do they go back there? I thought I looked ahead in that. Next week.

Chapter 2: How did Filip Gustavsson perform against the Colorado Avalanche?
I don't like the fact he got into high pressure games and didn't look the same. And I know that the wild has a system that's probably superior to what Sweden had. And so it might, it might be from my part, a nothing burger, but this is, but, but my whole thing has been, this is why I don't want to trade Walster at this point.
Unless you think that your guy can come up from Iowa and just step in and play if something goes wrong. That was more about not that Gustafson shouldn't be playing. My contention was more about I would have more reservations about trading Volstead based on how Gustafson played in a couple of big games, which by the way, I don't think they're going to do just to be clear.
I think they're going to make a trade and we'll talk about why, but I don't think they're going to trade him. So I I'm not real concerned about that. Um,
Yeah, I'm still at a point where, yeah, he's not going to do this. But if he if Bill Guerin rolled across the JHS wire with guys, here's the final proposal before I send it in. What do you think? There's a very small number of names that I would say is OK. I would give the thumbs up green light approval to for moving on from Wall Street at this point.
Yeah, and Trocek is who we think is the likely target, as we've talked about. He's not one of those names. He's not one of those names. This was brought up on the telecast last night. I found it intriguing by LaPanta. So he said in games in his career, when Gustafson has made 39 or more saves, he's 11-5-5, but more importantly, has a save percentage over 93%.
So the point being, he made 44 saves on 45 shots last night, but he actually thrives with work. And it looked like that. I mean, he looked, he came back really, really sharp. I was very glad about that. I'm almost positive that Ballstead's going to start tonight. They play again in Utah. I'm curious to see how sharp he is, more because of his break. Yeah. He's coming off that break.
He got in late last night, but that's not a whole lot. He was with Team Sweden, but he didn't play. So I'm curious on that one. Let's talk about some of the skaters' performances last night, though. Yeah. I know it's empty net goals, okay. But Boldy had, including a shorthanded empty net goal, Boldy had two empty net goals. More importantly, he had two assists.
He could have had three if Marcus Johansson in the first period hadn't hit that post. I think it was on a two-on-one, which was a gorgeous pass by Boldy. And he had 10 shots on goal. What more can you say here? Like, what more can you say? He is now, now Kaprizov had the break. Kaprizov made some plays last night. I think he picked up a helper. And so Kaprizov was rusty for sure.
But that was another game, and this is not to put Krill down. It's actually more so to praise Matt Boldy. That was another game where 12 stood out much more than 97. he is just, he is jumping off the screen. If you're at home watching a wild game on TV, the way I would put it is he is jumping off the screen with his performance.
