And this seems like a very good time to do this because for the most part, the Wild does continue to play well. I want to start there too, H. We were both at the 4-3 OT loss, a wildly entertaining game on Saturday. The third period was just fantastic. Islanders beat the Wild. They come back to do it. Here's my observation from the postgame locker room, which you were in as well, and I'd be curious to get your thoughts. I have... rarely if ever seen a wild team as satisfied with a loss i mean they got a point but with satisfied as a loss as that team was but i will defend them by saying i didn't really blame them like ordinarily it feels like you go down after an ot loss and there's a lot of lament and it just feels like a loss it doesn't feel like a point gained it feels like a loss i didn't get that sense at all on saturday and after that game i
I guess for one of the few times, I will side with the players and say, I didn't think that their attitude was not appropriate, given how that game went. I mean, just for instance, the wild-out shot, the Islanders 36-17. Probably more importantly... in high danger chances according to natural stat trick the wild held a 17 to 11 advantage elia sorkin the islander goaltender stood on his absolute head um but that was a very interesting post game because i really felt like it was uh it was professionally handled but it wasn't like uh i can't believe we lost it was more like a yep okay fine we got the point move on
Yeah, it was... I don't think it's very often that we come on this show and we make excuses and defend the team, or at least jump to that conclusion. Right. But I think it's fair to do it in this case. I mean, the game that we watched, as soon as that final... buzzer went after uh holmstrom's ot winner i was like i kind of can't believe that they just lost that game granted they got a point so they were rewarded a little bit but they outplayed them i felt um there was like two glaring things in my mind maybe maybe three that uh that were like the sole deciding things which was the biggest one was ilia sorokin's play that guy is fantastic And sometimes I think the term that has kind of like arisen the past couple years is like, you just got goalied.
That's what happened. The Minnesota Wild got goalied. He was standing on his head. He was fantastic. And he basically single-handedly won them that game. On the other side of it, the turnover on the power play leading to the shorthanded goal where Kaprizov and Zuccarello were like, just strong tether we have to pass to each other um turnover in the offensive zone led to the shorthanded opportunity where they scored and that was a good goal but it was a terrible turnover on the power play um that i mean if that doesn't happen you win that game assuming everything else plays out the same way and then the other one was daniela urov a guy who generated point over 0.6 expected goals like that is an extraordinary amount
