Hey, Elon. Hey everybody. It's great to be back on the Keeping Carlson Airways. I think it's probably been what, like four or five months, I guess, since I I made my last short ships appearance. So happy to be here and happy to talk about one of my favorite topics, the 2026 NHL entry draft.
Uh has it really been that long, man? This summer has really been flying by, I guess. Yeah, because I guess we stopped short just before the NHL playoffs. Yeah, well, you joined the Dynasty League, the Keeping Carlson Dynasty League, the team that Brian and I were doing, and we're now Bry Lan. And uh I you know, I kinda I don't want to say I screwed you over, but I kinda didn't give you something that you would have enjoyed because you came to join the team and it was a team that ended up with only one pick in the draft and it was the fifth round, 20th pick, hundredth overall. So I was like feel feeling bad for you, a guy who's done so much research into the draft. We ended up making some trades to uh pick up some picks along the way and we'll discuss it as we go.
But yeah, the plan for this week's episode is I I still haven't done it yet. You know, Brian and I like got right into uh all the excitement of free agency and definitely check out those last three episodes is a three-parter covering every single NHL team and all the transactions they made and looking from a fantasy perspective of who we think this helps or hurts. So that was a lot of fun. But then you know of course we still like to do an episode like looking at the draft, the actual entry draft, seeing if any of these players and also that's from like a fantasy perspective. Obviously there's lots of podcasts you could listen to to talk about like which teams drafted which players and whether it was smart for the team or not and you know if that's gonna help the team down the road.
But we want to look from fantasy like Which of these players are going to be people we're going to want to draft in our dynasty leagues and even people that we're going to want to keep an eye on in our one-year leagues, maybe as soon as next year? So it's a show I like to do every year. And we've got Ryan here, and we're just going to go through all the big names from the 2026 entry draft. And Ryan's done a ton of research, and he'll tell us who is a serious player and who's someone we can just totally forget about. So I'm super excited. Ryan, how many dynasty leagues have you drafted? Yeah.
So far, it's only been two. Uh, I'm a part of obviously the Keeping Carlson Ultimate Patron Dynasty League. That's one that we just finished a couple days ago, Elon. So that's one of them. The other one is uh I'm in Will Scouting's Scout Potato Fantasy League, which is available to patrons of uh of uh Will's services over there at scouting.ca. And so I'm part of that league as well. That's a 30-team league, and so it does help to be a little more knowledgeable deeper down in the direction. Draft because if you're going 30 teams deep at five rounds, you're looking at 150 players, which is not that far off from what the NHL player uh the NHL teams pick at a 217 or whatever it is. Um
So uh it did help to kind of do a lot of that research going down uh and and deep into the draft.
