Chapter 1: What reflections do the hosts have about aging and celebrity expectations?
Kickpod acknowledges the traditional owners and custodians of the land in which we're recording this podcast, the Yulukit Wulan clan of the Boomerong, who are a part of the Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to our elders, past and present, and extend our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
Welcome to the Kickpod, a DNM with your besties on the stuff that matters.
One, two, three, four, five.
Hello. Hello. How are you? Right this second, I'm a bit chilly. Oh my goodness, you want to put the... No, it's fine. But you can. Breaking the fourth wall, guys. We record in a studio where we're either super toasty warm or cold. And... Today it's cold, but you know what? It's going to keep me awake, so it's a good thing.
Actually... What? I was going to say, so post giving birth, you are hotter. Yes, I run hot. It continues. Yeah.
But right now I'm hot. See, I'm sweating. Like, I think I'm warm, but I'm cold. I'm feeling the cold. Are you sick? No, no, no. Oh, God, maybe I am. It's okay. Okay. Well, that's a great start, isn't it? Do you want me to change the bed? No, no, it's fine. It's fine. It's fine. Okay. I'm very happy to. No, it's okay. Okay. I was thinking that, though. You're very summery dressed.
It is 25 degrees today. No, I know. It's not 25 degrees in here. Yeah, it's not. It's not. But I'm hot. Okay. Okay.
Okay.
Anyway. Oh no, that's not good, is it? Anyway. Moving on. How are you? I'm good. I'm good. I actually, something happened this week, Laws, and I totally forgot to, because we tell each other literally everything. I forgot to tell you about this. What?

Chapter 2: How do the hosts feel about anti-wrinkle injections and their personal experiences?
Like, pulling up beside it, my left side of my car, I just... I have beepers, like, sensors, but you know how the sensors are, like, extra sensitive? Like, they always go off when you're still, like, a metre away from the car. So I'd heard that. But again, I just, like, was like, no, how many times have I turned into a car bug? Like, a bazillion times, and this has never happened to me.
So I just, like, was doing it quite confidently, was obviously quite distracted. And as soon as I heard the contact and, like...
realized what I'd done I just sat there for a moment and Harvey hadn't noticed he was like chatting chatting away and I just like I almost started crying but I think because Harvey was talking I was a bit distracted but I just like instantly felt so crap and yuck and I think the one thing that I felt the most shame about was for a second I was like oh my god do I drive away
And I wanted to say that because, like, I felt so guilty when I later sat with that and was like, I so believe in things like karma or, like, if, you know, if you do something like that, like, I don't know, if you have poo bags and then you don't pick up your dog poo, like, I think you deserve to step in shit that day.
Like, I'm generally one of those people that's like, if you do something and you don't own up to it, something's going to happen similar back to you. Like, I genuinely think that. And so, like, when I was sitting there, I was like, fuck, and I just felt like shit and I just had, I knew we had so much to do and we had this doctor's appointment.
Anyway, I wrote a note and I left all my details there and Harvey was like, why are you putting a note? He was so confused because, again, he didn't know that we had hit the car. And I left the details there because we had to get to his appointment so I couldn't wait around. And I was just feeling so anxious that day that I'd like ruined someone's day. Like there wasn't like full damage.
It was mainly like a paint graze. But still, like if you're having a shitty – even if you're having a great day, seeing that on your car, you'd be like, oh, what the hell? Anyway, I was waiting for this call and, you know, was going to obviously, like, work it all out. And we have, like, insurance.
It would have been fine, but it was more just, like, I just felt really shit that I'd done that to someone's day. I got the message, like, later in the afternoon. The nicest message, like I want to know what this human is doing with their lives to be like this beautiful of a human. But they were like, thank you so much for leaving a note. Really appreciate your honesty.
Honestly, like I really don't care about it, but thanks. And I was like, um, what? Anyway, so then I wrote back and I was like, I'm obviously you've got my number. So if you change your mind, like, honestly, thank you so much. But I'm very prepared to, you know, chat about this. And I said to them, I was like, I had my five-year-old with me.

Chapter 3: What humorous anecdotes do the hosts share about gray hair?
And also, you really don't know how people are going to respond. And yes, like totally valid if they don't respond in the same way that we have experienced. But it was also nice to know that that is also a way that they can respond.
And something else that is also a very nice thing to share. Yeah. Is that for anyone that has seen us, I mean, we've spoken a lot about Kick Studio on here. Yes. I actually did a class this morning. It was so beautiful. Which one did you do? I did Energize with Polly. So good. It was really, really good. Had a tear at the end. It was, yeah, it truly, it energised me for the day.
Like I literally came in here bouncing around so much that I knocked a lot of things over because my energy was exploding.
Can confirm.
So, so, so special. But we know for a lot of people it's not accessible. Not everyone lives near Cremorne. You might not be able to get to the classes, et cetera, et cetera.
And so we wanted, we were never going to launch this new kind of type of movement for Kik and type of experience without putting it in the app, obviously, because we want to make it accessible to everyone who also has the app and can't come to the studio. So as of today, our Kik studio classes are, are now in the app and there will be new classes uploaded every single week.
So if you've been wanting to try it and you are a part of Keek or if you're not, we have a free seven-day trial which we'll put the link to in our show notes.
You can try a class. Yeah. I think it's also a really nice way because we obviously get to now like platform some of the trainers that are in the studio. So if you are like if you do have a membership or a class pack to the studio and maybe you've tried one or two classes, the live –
classes are going to be a great way to also try maybe a different trainer and like see their vibe and get to know them as well. I just, yeah, I can't wait. So we hope you guys enjoy it. And if you aren't a part of the Kik app, we do have a seven day free trial. We'll pop a link in the show notes so you can check it out.

Chapter 4: How do societal pressures influence perceptions of aging?
I don't know if they would be. And that's sad. Like I feel like there's obviously a huge percentage of society who would love it and would be like, oh, as we said, how refreshing and like there's no reason why you can't look fashionable or stylish as you age. Absolutely. But I feel like unfortunately there's still a huge part of society that just like doesn't find that appealing, which is sad.
Yeah.
Well, it's like when Just Like That came out after Sex and the City and people had a huge problem with the fact that the characters had aged. Yeah. And it had been 20 or 30 years. So it's exactly right. It's like you're damned if you do, you're damned if you don't.
And I agree.
I don't think it's on the actors.
No.
Don't, I wonder as well, the question is then, are actors, like would you, like for example, I see an influencer promoting unregulated peptides. Like I don't know how they, first of all, like that's not deleted by the platform anyway. Yeah. I feel very passionate about that because I think they know the influence they have on their audience. Hollywood actors play a role.
Yeah. A lot of them don't even talk to their audience. As in like they're not. So is it the same? I don't think so.
And I do. I think they're damned if they do, they're damned if they don't. Because I do agree. Like just as we saw with Just Like That, people were just horrible about the fact that people had age. So it's not in the problem of the person. No. A lot of things we talk about are societal problems. Question for you, where are you at right now?

Chapter 5: What personal stories do the hosts share about their experiences with aging?
Yeah, yeah.
But I do think and it's something that when we did this episode a couple of months ago and we touched kind of based on where we're at right now with it. A lot of people said the people you're around, if it is everywhere, I think it just makes it like 90% harder for most people to not.
It's like everything. Yeah, exactly right. Like smoking. There's so many things that is so much harder to either give up or not do or not be conscious of if the people around you do it. Yeah, 100%. The other, like, I mean, another thing that we notice and that kind of gets demonized when it comes to aging is gray hair. And it was quite funny.
I was at my girlfriend's birthday on the weekend and she was like, oh, my God, guys, I have my first gray hair. And I was like... Like, I didn't know what to say because I've had greys for like six years now and more than one. And it was so funny because no one gave her the response that she was looking for. And she was like, guys, this is a big deal. And I was like, oh, honey.
And she's about to have a baby. So I was like, oh. sorry, but there's more to come. Like there's more to come. It's not just aging that gets you grace. And it was actually quite funny because then we looked at her head and I was like, oh, by the way, there's more than one. And it was like she's the kind of friend that, you know, we have that relationship where like I can be like that with her.
But it just made me think like that's something that I'm trying to be less self-conscious about. Like I've got a couple that kind of go halfway down my head. They never sit flat. I've got about four or five that are literally in my part. And I remember even for a period of time when I was doing like the side part of
It like hit a few of them but then there was like another one and I was like, I just feel like unless I literally pluck them or whatever or go like platinum blonde, it is what it is. They're kind of just going to be there. And so it's one of those things that I definitely notice. And I don't love them but I also don't hate them.
I just like they're just there and I'm trying like more and more not to think about them. and to just let them grow out. But it is something that a lot of people, and again, like I have five on my head, guys, so I'm not, I know there's people who are generally like half their head by my age is grey, like everyone's really different and I'm, you know, conscious of talking about it.
Like I'm not some like fucking hero for being able to embrace five greys on my head. That's definitely not how I'm trying to come across. But what I'm saying is it's unfair that there's these things that just naturally happen out of our control. Yeah. that apparently we have to be so conscious about. Or fix.

Chapter 6: How do the hosts discuss the impact of Hollywood on beauty standards?
I'm so excited to watch that. I had seen it and then I forgot when I was then thinking about what to watch just like I did with Pretty Little Lies. Thinks or lies?
What?
What's the show you always tell me to watch? A Million Little Things.
Oh, sorry.
My goodness.
Pretty Little Lies. What the fuck? Fast fashion brand. Jesus. No, Pretty Little Liars is a show. Oh, it's a show. But it's not the show I've told you to watch ten times.
Sorry. What have you got? And also, just a note on that, for anyone that watches Made in Chelsea, they were on Made in Chelsea. And then now it's called Raising Chelsea, but they're no longer on Made in Chelsea. No, that's just how they met. And Jamie did an amazing interview on, actually, it was on Shameless with Zara when they had their most recent trip over to the UK. And...
It's quite interesting to hear Jamie and Refreshing speak about Made in Chelsea because it's very wealthy kids. And so sometimes when you see that, you're like, oh, why would I want to watch that? But he's, like, very honest about the fact that, like, he says, like, why would you like a kid that's on that? Like, he's just, he's really honest and it's refreshing and, yeah, love. Love it.
Okay, I'm so excited to watch. Okay, mine. I have two. Okay. Number one.
