Chapter 4: How can businesses manage negative online reviews effectively?

117.249 - 132.317 Kim Komando

Enjoy. You're being watched. Seriously, every time you go online, your internet provider is tracking your every move. Here in the U.S., they actually sell your browsing history. Until that changes, you need to protect yourself. That's why I use ExpressVPN.

0

132.297 - 148.557 Kim Komando

It's an easy-to-use app that encrypts your connection and reroutes all your internet traffic through secure servers, so your online activity stays private. With ExpressVPN, your internet provider can't see your browsing history. It hides your IP address. That's the number that identifies you online, so you can't be tracked.

Chapter 6: How can improving your Google presence help your business?

181.698 - 185.484 Kim Komando

What's happening? Thanks so much. It's great talking with both of you.

186.907 - 213.003 Unknown

So I work for a small family owned florist here on the north side of Nashville, and it's been in business for 58 years. Wow. So, yeah, longstanding and just a phenomenal place to work. But from a technical experience, you know, they've gone from the days of paper and everything to getting into the tech world and all that.

0

213.623 - 232.862 Unknown

But recently we've been seeing an uptick in calls and reviews from people who think they've ordered from us. But what's happened is they've searched our name and city and And then they've clicked on one of the sponsored websites, some of the clearinghouses that try to get your orders.

0

Chapter 7: What are the benefits of using local businesses over big chains?

233.903 - 244.318 Unknown

And when they find out that they've ordered through them, but then they all of a sudden after they find out they don't like the product.

0

244.538 - 247.001 Kim Komando

They get dead flowers or it doesn't arrive on time.

0

248.263 - 267.055 Unknown

All those things. Then they somehow find us and think that we sent it. So then we kind of have to go through the search process of, okay, are you a customer? Nope, nope, we don't have you as a customer. But hey, you know, we appreciate leaving a Google review, but could you take it off or, you know, make it five stars?

0

269.157 - 275.586 Kim Komando

Do you turn these into Google and say, this is not, you know, this is not my business?

0

275.701 - 285.762 Unknown

So I don't know that we've done that. I'm not the owner, but I'm trying to do the research on it and what could benefit us.

Chapter 8: How can you protect your online privacy from tracking?

286.096 - 291.803 Unknown

from the standpoint of seeing that be a lesser item happening in our world.

0

292.144 - 315.934 Kim Komando

So here's where you want to start, Amy. Go to business.google.com. Okay. Make sure you claim the business there. Okay. And put up as much as you can. Photos, various products, picture of your storefront, your specialties. The more complete that you can make it, the less likely somebody will confuse you with somebody else.

0

315.914 - 326.877 Kim Komando

And then in addition to that, the higher that Google will rank you in what's called a map pack. The map pack are the first three results that show up in a Google search.

0

327.305 - 337.838 Kim Komando

Okay. More reviews that you can get the better, obviously. Right. Right. And then I would also dispute any type of review that's not you.

337.858 - 338.559 Unknown

Okay.

339.08 - 363.234 Kim Komando

You know, and I also look at your, your, your, your, your placement in Google, you know, search yourself and say something, you know, like why you should buy local because Google loves that. Oh, oh, okay. And customers love that too. Because I know like whenever I need to buy flowers or something, I will search that city, that town, that florist instead of using like a big 800 number.

363.895 - 379.559 Kim Komando

And then explain what I'm looking for because I get to talk to like a real person. I'm not picking off a menu. But if someone is paying for advertising, aren't they always going to be above her in the search results? Yeah. Yeah, they will be. But you can scroll down. Because if you're going to see a big name, I'm going to scroll down.

380.521 - 402.901 Unknown

You would hope that. I noticed that on Google, we're probably number four if you put in our name and city and state. But on the right-hand side of the page, you'll see... some pictures, you'll see our business, you'll see where you can click on website, but people don't go to the right on the page. They stick with what the websites are that come up underneath their search, we've noticed.
