And we were playing uh in the street and some minutes passed and eventually the ball came to me and I realized I didn't really understand the rules of the game, so I kind of froze and stood there. And a little black boy came up uh and stripped the ball.
And in my defective manner, you know, I'm like, hey, who cheated, you know, something like that. And uh yeah, this little boy, I just never forget. He just stopped jogging back to the other group of kids, dropped the ball, came back. looked at me, he was shorter than me, so I was looking down at him. I didn't know what was happening or what to do. I just Was staring at him. And then suddenly without warren, he punched me in the face. And that was the first time I'd ever been hit uh, you know, like in the face or anything like that before. So I didn't really know what to do. I just kinda stood there shocked. And he stood there for another moment moment or two. And then boom, he just started. laying into me with his fists, backed me up into the gutter, fell down on the gutter, started kicking me.
And then as suddenly as it started, he just immediately stopped and turned around and started jogging back over, picked up the ball, and they started playing the game like nothing happened. And my brother was just over there on the other side of the street just looking at me laying there in the In the gutter, and that was the first time we'd ever gone outside to play in my new neighborhood. And so understandably, I got a pretty quick education on the difference between where I had been living right and the new environment where I was at now. So, you know, that led to Five middle schools and seven high schools.

Yeah, I had a lot of because I was usually one of the only white kids. Right. And so there was a lot of people that would try to uh you know, pick on me because of that. And I I wasn't uh I don't know. You had multiple issues.
