Chapter 2: How does Shannen Jai balance her career and motherhood?
Can I say that?
What happened? Well, like, I mean, I'm talking on their behalf. And with relationships, like, it's not my place to speak on them. But I just – with Tess and her partner, I just said, you know, just – There's just a lot of things that spirit was bringing up that maybe hit home for them. And it was a bit of a reflection. And then they decided to part ways.
But like, you know, obviously with any relationship in life, there's a lot more to it and like journeys and people are always in your life, Shannon, for a season, a reason or a lifetime anyway. And I'm sure that they, you know, they taught each other a lot and there was, you know, mutual love and affection throughout their relationship. And that's all that matters.
Okay. Okay. So now I'm here. So thank you if that was your influence or the spirits or whoever that was. But Tess was just like, the producers were like, hey, get someone. We need someone on. Who do you want to be your co-host? Can you think of anyone? And apparently she thought of me. And I...
didn't even question it mind you i don't even i didn't even speak on my story prior to having a podcast like i i hated the sound of my own voice which is so funny because even get you know getting to now meet you properly face to face like you were such a natural presenter energy i think i'm used to it i think i've come out of my shell a lot okay good um but i just i i immediately said yes to test i was like yep i'll do it and we came in for the the test what would you call that like a
Like a pilot vibe.
A pilot, right? And we all loved it. And they were like, immediately, yes. And it just, it honestly has been the best thing I've ever done.
Right. And how long has that been going for now?
Well, we're on season two. We just got sponsored by NYX for season two. Congratulations. You're on like season 450. What are you on?

Chapter 3: What challenges did Shannen face while building her podcast?
Because they were like, oh, shit. Because I always do the same thing every episode. Yeah, I did that for a really long time. I moved abroad in like 2020. UK? No, 2015. UK?
Yeah.
It was Austria, then Greece, then Belgium, and then Scotland. Oh, Scotland. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was the end. And yeah, my ex-husband was a football player, so he played and I just- Like AFL? Soccer. Soccer?
Mm-hmm. The real football.
Yes, exactly. Yeah. Um, so yeah, I just, I was a content creator. I was a fashion blogger. I did that, you know, for a good nine, 10 years. Um, and then moved back to Australia and I was just like, it's not fulfilling anymore. I need to do something more. So, um, I'm, yeah, I'm sort of still doing it here and there on the side, but.
And, you know, even, you know, when you mentioned your former partner and, you know, obviously he's got a big career and he's got the public image, like, you know, and I hate using the term like wags.
Oh, yeah. I mean, I don't care. I don't think it's derogatory in any way. No, but it's like you're more than just the wife or the girlfriend at the same time.
Yeah, yeah. How do you reconcile having your own life and all that and your opportunities when your partner's so public and you're sort of following him around?
Yeah. So when we first met, I knew him my whole life. We lived around the corner from each other. And when we first met, we were quite young. I was 17 and he was two years older. And I was still studying, I was still working in retail, and then he got the opportunity to move, not abroad yet, it was interstate to Adelaide.

Chapter 4: How does spirituality show up in Shannen's life?
I need to be around my support system. We had nobody over there. It was him, I, and our daughter and that's it.
It's a lonely life on the road.
It was hard, yeah. And it didn't hit me until then because I was so fine with it. I was a hermit. I was a recluse for so long and was fine because I would have my Instagram family and I would post for these people every single day and I was fine with it. But then I got over it and I was like, I need more. So, yeah, we moved back in 2024 and, yeah.
So, you know, even touching on the relationship because, you know, we're both same-sex attracted. Like. Yay, pride. And, you know, I know you mentioned you got with him or, you know, you obviously had a friendship and you were neighbors and everything like that. And then there's a relationship from 17 years onwards. It's a very bit of a personal question.
But like, even when you were in your teens, was women like, was there ever sort of that attraction to women? But obviously, because what I, the only reason I ask is because, you know, I find even with a lot of my friends now, it's sort of like, you know, they either got married to men or they got married to women. And then they were like, afterwards they were like, oh, but I always like,
Because we kind of feel like life has to be a certain way, and especially when we were growing up. Obviously, I've got a bit of age on you, but it was very conservative back then.
Preach. Not that my family's conservative. I just feel like I chose... to go that direction. Cause I was like, I don't want to disappoint anyone. Like I don't want to, I don't want to.
So there was sort of like same sex attraction.
Oh yeah. So I was actually hooking up with a girl before I was hooking up with him when I was like 16. Yeah.

Chapter 5: What insights does Shannen share about her past relationships?
Not that I can think of. Okay.
Like not talking about past lives or seeing people at the end of the bed or anything like that?
No, not that I can think of. I've heard stories of other kids doing it around that age. My friend's kids have. Yeah, I've heard some stories. But no, not from her. Yeah. Not from her. But it is incredible that they can do that. It scares me. I'm not going to lie. But it's incredible.
Yeah. And what about you? So I know you mentioned this is your first podcast. And you've come on to a very unique podcast.
I know. I said yes immediately. Because it's also my first reading.
Well, that was my next question. So you've never, like, what's your experience with like the spiritual side or like you've never done tarot or anything like that?
Oh, I do tarot, yeah. And I've had some readings from psychics. Like predictions, yeah. How about I?
You did one over the phone.
No. No, I did one at the market, the night market.

Chapter 6: How does Shannen view her creative journey and public speaking?
See, this is why. Because Spirit goes like this. So I think they liked the phone reading for you as well. She was psychic.
Okay. Yeah. Well, I did. I did that. I sat in the car and I did it and I wrote everything down.
Well, she got dates and stuff, which is good. Or like timelines.
She did. She had timelines and she spoke a lot about like divorce and not father figures, like man figures and like masculine figures and stuff and money and this and that. And as I was going through my divorce and all that sort of, and I was like, this is all spot on. And I don't know this girl from Borough Slope. She didn't know my name, nothing. So I was really, yeah.
I was happy with that one. But the night market one, yeah. What do you expect from a night market, really? Yeah.
I mean, apparently, and this is, I don't know her at all, but like shout out to her if anyone who's been to her or even if she ends up listening, but there is a tarot reader at the South Melbourne market.
Okay.
And apparently she's under the staircase.
Okay.
