What is the current situation with the hantavirus outbreak on the cruise ship?
A deadly virus outbreak on a cruise ship leaves three people dead and more than 100 stranded.
Hantavirus has a high fatality rate. Up to 30% of people who acquire this infection can die.
We speak to an expert about the Hantavirus and why he says this is not the next COVID.
I'm Daily Wire executive editor John Bickley with Georgia Howe. It's Friday, May 8th. This is Morning Wire.
Former reality TV star Spencer Pratt hits the national political map with a stellar debate performance. What's been so effective about his unorthodox campaign?
They don't have to live in the mess they've created where you live. And are we seeing a rise in religion and conservatism in young men?
Thanks for waking up with Morning Wire. Stay tuned. We have the news you need to know.
We all know we're supposed to get a wide variety of whole food ingredients into our diet, but it can be tough, especially with a busy schedule. That's one reason why Balance of Nature's Whole Health System stands out. It's designed to make that process simple, with a blend of fruits and vegetables in easy-to-take capsules, so you're getting essential nutrients without the prep work or planning.
How does hantavirus transmission differ from COVID-19?
It's a practical way to stay consistent, even on days when meals are rushed or less balanced than you'd like. The system is also flexible. Their fiber and spice supplement mixes easily into drinks and adds a warm, subtle flavor from its spice blend. And if you prefer, you can open the fruits and veggies capsules and add them to smoothies or meals. Each serving includes 47 ingredients from real, whole foods, from fruits and vegetables to spices and fibers. That includes everything from psyllium husk and flaxseed to turmeric, mango, wild blueberries, spinach, kale, and more. Some members of our Daily Wire team have worked balance of nature into their daily routines, and they like how convenient it is, especially when traveling or during busy stretches when proper meals aren't always realistic.
It's a simple way to stay on track without overthinking it. It also helps take some of the guesswork out of nutrition, which can make a real difference over time. Go to balanceofnature.com today and get an additional 10% off the whole health system supplements when you subscribe and use discount code WIRE.
A cruise ship with a deadly disease outbreak that began Sunday is currently en route to the Canary Islands. Previous ports have refused to allow the passengers to disembark due to concerns about the hantavirus. At least three of the eight infected passengers have already died.
Joining us to discuss hantavirus and what risk it poses to the public is Vanderbilt professor of infectious disease, Dr. William Schaffner. Dr. Schaffner, thanks for coming on.
Good to be with you, Georgia.
Now, there is a very frightening situation playing out off the coast of Africa right now.
What makes Spencer Pratt's debate performance noteworthy?
We have this cruise ship with almost 150 people that are currently stranded. At least three people on board have passed away from suspected hantavirus. First, can you tell us what hantavirus is and how people usually get it?
Sure. Hantavirus is a virus that lives in small rodents and usually in warmer parts of the world.
What strategies did Spencer Pratt use to connect with LA voters?
For example, our southwestern United States. The rodents shed the virus through their saliva, their urine, and their feces, and then it can dry up. If humans get into that environment and stir up the dust and create an aerosol, they can breathe in the virus, and it can get down into their lungs. It can also get on their hands, and then they can transmit it to themselves that way. This is an infection that can have a long incubation period, days to weeks. In other words, nothing happens and then all of a sudden you become sick. The initial illness is rather mild. You just think you have a viral infection with some fever and headache, not feeling too well, some muscular aches and pains. That goes on for two or three days and then crash.
You get seriously ill because the virus has infected your lungs and your heart. And that can result in death, as you have indicated.
