All the tabletop around playing news, we aim too amusing, we aim too enthused And Morris is unofficial Tabletop RPG Yoga.
A. Morrus 0:17
Hello, hello, hello, and welcome to Morris's unofficial tabletop RPG Talk. I am Russ, aka Morris, or Morris, aka Russ. And with me this week is
PJ Coffey 0:30
PJ Coffee from the Southampton Guild of Role Players, also from Homebrew and Hacking TTRP Design. Joining us also, we have someone who, despite their alleged feminist con credentials, has made no steps to finding out whether Uncle Matters, but apparently is like really into uh all being about all this anti-matter business. I don't know what it's all about, but I do know it's one, it's the only, it's
Jessica Hancock 0:53
It's me, Jessica from EM Publishing. I'm a little confused by my intro, but I'm assuming that's a reference to us being at Sun, which we'll be talking out more.
A. Morrus 1:01
Oh, Tess, Jess. That's a nice t shirt you've got on.
Jessica Hancock 1:05
Thank you. It's it's of the large hadron collider.
A. Morrus 1:09
Yeah, it's very nice. Yeah.
Jessica Hancock 1:11
Thank you.
A. Morrus 1:12
I'm gonna I'm gonna raise a cup. She's like my card.
Jessica Hancock 1:19
The listeners at home, uh Russ has a CERN mug and uh that is As we mentioned, that is where Russ and I work 'cause we're doing an article and video for EN World, uh which we'll tell you more about. Um
PJ Coffey 1:34
tell you about it right now, shall we? Uh, would would you say these items merchantise are for the uh discerning purveyor? I'd say that was a terrible,
A. Morrus 1:45
terrible pun, is what I would say.
Jarmo Kekalainen 1:47
Yeah. I
A. Morrus 1:48
expect you wish you'd made it yourself. But anyway, there you go. So what happened last week? So Jess and I and my brother Darren who is a um making the video and doing the camera work for us. Um we were invited to CERN, specifically to the CERN Games Club because they were holding an event on the Friday night, but as a a an amazing side benefit of that, um a bunch of CERN particle physicist Gabriels um gave us gave us tours of various facilities at CERN. And CERN is of course the um the location of the large Hadron Collider, um which is a massive, massive m I think they said it is the biggest and most complex machine humankind has ever made. It's twenty seven miles of tunnel, one hundred meters underground.
A. Morrus 2:46
Um and collides particles at near the speed of light where they recreate the um first moments after the Big Bang.
Jarmo Kekalainen 2:55
Yeah.
A. Morrus 2:55
And do all sorts of really feature episodes.
Jessica Hancock 2:58
Yeah.
A. Morrus 2:58
Yeah.
Jessica Hancock 2:59
It is incredibly impressive. Although this one of the physicists there was explaining it to us and said, basically, you know how early man like was smashing rocks together to see what happened. We're kind of doing that just really small. So we're still just smashing stuff together to see what happens. Uh and that's what science is. So Yeah.
Jarmo Kekalainen 3:19
Yeah.
Jessica Hancock 3:19
They picked it they they pitched it at level that made sense to me and that was the level they picked to talk to me. They're like we get these things then we smash them and see what happens and I'm like, Oh great.
A. Morrus 3:30
So we had an amazing, amazing time. Um and we're gonna be putting out more stuff related to this. So we're gonna be putting out a sort of short um sort of thirty minute documentary about the CERN Games Club, but also that's gonna have lots and lots of stuff about us at CERN in it. Um I'm I've already started writing an article on EN World. We've got uh three or four, is it four in interviews with various people, which four separate interviews. Yeah. Yeah. Um which are going to which are gonna go up at some point. Um so we got a whole whole ton of stuff um all about it. But I th I thought we could just talk about our experience just a a little more sort of casually here on the podcast rather than all the sort of formal stuff that we're gonna be putting out.
Jessica Hancock 4:19
Yeah. So like a plan? Yeah. I mean we've got the EN World stuff, which will be our pr you know, professional stuff, but this is just us chatting as friends. So yeah, yeah, yeah.
A. Morrus 4:27
So this is as we uh came into um Geneva and I looked out the plane window and I saw the Alps. And um so I put up a slide and you can see the plane wing and you can see the Alps in the distance and they looked amazing. That picture doesn't do it justice either, but it was so much sharper and clearer in person.
