Chapter 1: What are the essential company core values for employee retention?
So I'm alone in my house right now. I'm going through a divorce. My five kids are living with mom. And I'm sitting here thinking to myself, what am I going to do with my workday today? And I know I need to shoot some content.
Chapter 2: How can leadership strategies improve employee motivation?
So what am I going to shoot it on? That's the question. And I thought to myself, man, there's got to be other people that are going through similar experiences where they're lost in this world, wondering where they should focus. What is the next business they should be growing, starting, executing? How do they overcome their challenges?
Chapter 3: Why is equity not always the best solution for retention?
I'm healing from some surgery and I can't lift weights for the next couple of weeks. It's so cold outside. I don't want to go out to even walk around the block. You get the idea. So I started shooting some content this week.
Chapter 4: What are effective methods to manage employee burnout?
I looked at Alex Ramosi and Stephen Bartlett, two content creators I watch a lot of content from. I looked at my own YouTube CTR strategies and created a video on that. I talked about starting a business. I did so many different videos. I even did a video on how to look at a group email inbox on G Suite if you're not a member of the group.
Chapter 5: How does company culture impact employee retention?
And all of these have a little bit of a different shift from the Amazon tone that I've taken. Even though I'm wearing the Us vs. Amazon shirt, I've been thinking about how do I gain some new viewers outside of the Amazon niche and expand into a bigger vehicle, as Alex Hermosi says. And I don't have the answer to that question yet.
I'm trying to figure it out and doing some testing right now because a lot of people do like my business acumen. I used to be a TV reporter. I've run a very successful eight-figure agency. I've been able to do a lot of beneficial things, creating 500 jobs. I lost 65 pounds. I got health under my belt. I've got five kids, so I'm a family man of sorts, although divorce sucks.
Chapter 6: What strategies help in training talent for long-term growth?
And trying to figure out how to get more time with my kids is definitely something that eats at me all the time. So this is where my life's at. And... You know, I even gave up on remaking a studio because I didn't care. So that's why I'm shooting with a dresser in the backdrop and a printer.
Chapter 7: How can internal promotions enhance team loyalty?
And, you know, I spent a pretty penny, like a quarter million dollars getting an aquarium set up behind me at my original house and then divorce it. And I'm like, you know, I don't really care that much. I don't care about a quarter million dollar fish tank anymore. So if people want to hear me, they're just going to hear me talk like this. That's what I decided.
Chapter 8: What lessons can be learned from failures in business partnerships?
Now, Stephen Barlett, he's got this big studio, and he's bringing these big guests, and he does make some good content. But so many people are in my shoes right now where they either have an idea problem, a motivation issue, or a challenge they can't overcome. They can't slay their dragon.
And so, you know, this ramble of sorts transparently tells you where I'm at so that I can help overcome your problems through my experience share. So I have tried to tackle this problem for years in a sense, right? So I'm highly successful. I've got enough money. I could retire.
And I know that I'm not done yet, but this divorce is dragged on for 14, 15 months, and I just want to be done with it. But I can't seem to really get my muha back, right? And so... You know, traveling was cool. I went around the world, visited like, I don't know, 23, 26 countries, so many countries I can't name at this point.
I would say Japan and Thailand are probably my two favorite to visit as a tourist. Really, really incredible experiences. I had a really big awakening moment in the Philippines a few years back when I was canyoneering in Cebu. And I realized that I didn't want to go back home to what was going on in my life. Right. And that's a feeling we all have from time to time. Right.
Like you want to escape. The grass is greener on the other side. Hint, it's not. It's greener where you water it. And I see this all the time with employees. Right. Like I see this jumping ship the second it gets hard, only to realize you had it really good and you miss it when it's gone. Right. What's that song? You don't know how good you got it till it's gone or whatever.
I'm missing the lyrics up a little bit, but I've seen that so many times. I have former employees that reach out and say, man, I miss the culture at MAG. These are the same people that wrote me nasty Glassdoor reviews about how it's a cult. You know, like maybe, maybe it's a cult, but you miss it. Might be a reason. You know, maybe it wasn't a cult. Maybe it was just good.
And for whatever reason, you didn't adhere to the core values and it didn't work for you and you left. Now, you could say that about... your former glory days at some company you liked working at. Some of you have got golden handcuffs. I talk to a lot of people that have golden handcuffs. My brother's one of them.
A lot of people on LinkedIn making quarter million or more dollars per year in the U.S., San Francisco, New York, whatever. It doesn't matter. And they can't give up their golden handcuffs, corporate world to go start their own business. And side hustling is one option, one solution to that. You know, create a side hustle. Gary Vee is all about that hustle culture.
Many, many stories talked about just go to a garage sale, buy something and sell it on eBay. I think Gary talks about that not so much as to help you make money, but so much as to get you in the zone. If you can do that, you can start a business. I've done this myself. I went down to Target, went to the clearance section, bought some toys, and started reselling it on Amazon. I didn't make much.
