Thank you so much for listening to the Neurodiverse Love Podcast. Hi, Dan. It's so good to see you. I am so excited about our conversation and thank you so much for agreeing to be a presenter at the Neurodiverse Love Conference. How you doing?
I'm good. Thank you. Mona, can you hear me all right? Is everything working?
Yeah, it's great. It's fantastic. So today we're gonna talk about a topic I don't think I have ever talked about on the Neurodiverse Love podcast.
Why did Daniel Jones decide to discuss autistic‑autistic relationships?
And I know it's a really important topic. We're gonna talk about autistic, autistic relationships. And I'd love if you could share a little bit about why you were interested in doing a session on this particular topic.
Yeah, a hundred percent. I'll I'll explain all of that now. So um yeah, for anybody who doesn't know, my name is Dan. Obviously, my my online name is the Aspie World, but um so I'm autistic, so I have a diagnosis of autism level two or ASD level two. Used to be Asperger syndrome, now it's level two. And ADHD also and O C D dyslexia. like sithymia, a whole list of crazy things. But they're all they're all rolled into one lovely autism spectrum disorder. Um and and yeah, so I um I meet lots of people. all around the world because what I do is I make you know educational content for the internet to help people um urge themselves towards a successful existence being autistic, right? So I don't want people to just get by, I want them to actually thrive in life.
I love that. So that's what I do. And um yeah, and uh and and kind of like I feel like um recently I feel like I'm I'm uh on this like crazy like mission and I don't know if you're religious, but I say I'm on a mission from God to help as many people as possible, right? And that's what I feel like. And like that, you know, when you feel like you have sense of purpose, that's what I do, you know, like I have that sense of purpose.
Me too, Dan. Me too. I I'm all about helping neurodiverse couples, whether they're the same neurotype or mixed neurotype, understand each other. So I'm with you. It's a mission. Cool.
So yeah, so how don't why did I want to get into this? So the reason we're talking about this today is because um I recently got out of a a long term relationship with a woman. I say recently within the last year, I got a long term relationship with a woman who uh was not autistic, but I've been with her for a long time, and there were so many difficulties within that relationship. I'm not saying that you know, any any relationship it there's gonna have difficulties, right? Because we're two people coexisting and there will be things that we disagree on. Um but there were also things where like there was there was a misunderstanding. There was lots of misunderstandings and the other person was almost like
really missing the the the mark where autism um support needed to come into place. Right. And and it's not I'm not like, you know, dissing them, um saying that there's anything wrong. I'm just saying that they they weren't able to understand certain autistic things, you know, uh how I was experiencing the world and how complex conversations can be. Um, but as of recently, I am dating um uh a woman who I am incredibly in love with.
How do shared neurotype and similar interests strengthen an autistic‑autistic partnership?
