Chapter 2: What are the implications of the Spurs forcing Game 7?

729.373 - 751.685 Unknown

And he was caught in between. He was letting it go sort of as these floaters weren't good. Super rushed. Nobody did a thing. Also, Jalen Williams and his return in J-Dub not looking good. If you're the Thunder, you say, whoa, do you see what happened with Dylan Harper from game five to game six? Looked bad in game five, returning from his injury. Game six, he looked spectacular.

0

751.705 - 769.05 Unknown

He was in such a flow. So it's a different injury. It's a hamstring that he's going through. They have that hope, I assume, going into his second game. But he was going to play. You think he'll still play in game seven? As in assuming he's as healthy as he was last night, do you think the Thunder should play him?

0

769.251 - 775.438 Unknown

If he's the exact same as he looked and moved around on the court last night, he should not play. He did nothing.

0

776.559 - 778.221 JD

He didn't do nothing. He was bad.

0

778.321 - 793.8 Unknown

He was hurting the team, I thought, last night. One point, obviously off a free throw, and a couple turnovers and just otherwise. He only played 10 minutes, but did not inspire a lot of confidence. If he plays like that in a game seven, you can't have that much, even 10 minutes. No, no.

793.78 - 812.881 Unknown

his 10 minutes versus Carter Bryant's eight minutes off the bench, Carter Bryant destroyed him and had a great body check of Shea in the middle of the key when a shot went up for a rebound. Here comes Carter Bryant, beelining, knowing who he's going to take out and took out Shea Gillis-Alexander. That was nice.

813.541 - 837.227 Unknown

I think Mark Dagnall has no problem pulling Jalen Williams if he is banged up, if he is still hurt. So, yeah, that's a concern. Again, Who helped? Jerry McCain out of flow. Jalen Williams not looking good. I thought Chad Holmgren did some good things, but he also was slowed down. He slowed himself down. There was opportunities there just to let it rip. And he wasn't comfortable.

837.248 - 854.931 Unknown

He needs to shoot more. Simple as that. Shoot it. He needs to get it with Jerry McCain. He's a good shooter. This is the weirdest thing. Yeah, yeah. Frustrating. So literally just not letting it go. You know, Cason Wallace was fine. Yeah, well, I think you might see a lot more Cason Wallace. I mean, Lou Dort might get a quick yank as well. He's been brutal.

854.951 - 875.232 Unknown

He's been brutal, and he was at least shooting last night. Of course, it was not dropping, and he's been pretty cold here for a while now. So I think Cason Wallace could get more minutes there. It was weird with Lou because he hit his first one. He hit his first three from the corner. And I don't know why he took that bomb from up top. That's not a Lou-like shot from 27 feet.

Chapter 3: How does the discussion shift to the upcoming Game 7?

888.785 - 895.911 Unknown

And good at something you don't really consider with Cason Wallace, his drives and his finishes. That's not really what we know of him, but...

0

895.891 - 917.933 Unknown

yeah yeah overall just terrible and that the Spurs yes getting back to the third quarter they were they were the thunder mirror uh in the way they were just flying um whether or not Stephon Castle's doing a good job on Shea's shoulder and just being right there and being in his head when Shea let that ball go to every single connection man they're a string out there

0

Chapter 4: What were the key performances in Game 6?

917.913 - 936.538 Unknown

Yeah, Castle, let's talk about him because obviously the big role on slowing SGA, damn near stopping him, but efficient from the field in this one too. He's also damn near completely fixed the turnover issue, which plagued him here early in this series. He turned the ball over 20 times through the first two games, but he's committed six, total of six across the last four games.

0

936.779 - 951.6 Unknown

Big part of that, having Fox back. Huge part of that. Just a ball out of his hands. Now Fox couldn't hit a shot to save his life last night. I thought he looked like Fox when he started the game. I thought he had a nice bounce to him. I'm like, oh, okay, there it is. Just the shots are like everything is rimming out for him, and this was a rough one shooting-wise.

0

951.72 - 973.473 Unknown

But Castle was a huge, huge part of the defensive run, the scoring there in the third quarter, to push this to a weekend game seven. And just his play moving off the ball a little bit more and just being able to lock in defensively, he's been awesome along with Harper, as you talked about. Yeah, I mean, Harper to me was the difference maker last night for the Spurs. He just looked springy.

0

973.553 - 985.207 Unknown

He looked like he was seeking out contact. He was helping on the glass like he did when he was healthy at the beginning of this series. So for me going to game seven, I'm like, I expect a similar performance from you now that we've seen you're at least healthy enough to do it.

0

985.607 - 1003.695 JD

Fox just doesn't seem to have any sort of touch right now, but that's fine because he's doing a good job facilitating seven assists, zero turnovers last night in four games of the series. He has five total turnovers. That's amazing. 26 assists to five turnovers, and a huge problem was Castle turning the ball over. Fox comes back.

1003.816 - 1008.788 JD

It's a little bit less on Castle's plate, and now he's not turning the ball over. He's also seeing...

1008.937 - 1034.134 JD

easily more easily attacked defender as well Fox will bend the defense in a screen and roll with Wemby and then that just gives Castle a better chance to attack so him kind of slotting into the 1.5 ball handler has been perfect uh for this team but you just have to imagine the Thunder are thinking we're going to get similar performances when we go back home like Caruso was muted last night he's been awesome in every uh Thunder win so far SGA has to be due for a game

1034.114 - 1055.197 Unknown

Chet played good in Game 5 back in OKC as well. So, I mean, this still feels like a toss-up going into Game 7, but weird. It's just weird that it's like blow up one way, blow out the other way. Good responses from both teams for sure, but it leaves you kind of questioning what's going to actually go down in Game 7. Any result would be legitimately expected. Yeah.

1055.458 - 1071.72 Unknown

If anybody tells you to your face, like, this is what is going to happen in Game 7, come on. You have no clue, man. Now I'm confident there won't be a seven and a half minute stretch probably where OKC can't score like that third quarter where, yeah, the Spurs were stopping them, but they just could not buy a bucket.

Chapter 5: What record was tied during the NBA postseason?

2978.73 - 3005.09 Unknown

And we're going to have on Saturday night our fifth game seven of the postseason, which ties the record for most in a postseason in playoff history. Tremendous. Happened in 94, 2014, and 2016. Five series going to seven games. Sounds low. Because I thought that 2016 one, was it 14? 14, where they were all first round. All first round. Yeah, that's why it sounded low. So I bring that up.

0

3005.13 - 3023.967 Unknown

Maybe the NBA Finals gives us the record-breaking sixth Game 7 of the postseason. I would love that. We could only hope. We traded wedgies for Game 7s. Yeah, we really did. A fair trade, honestly. Yeah, totally. Beyond fair. Especially because we set the record already in the regular season. Yeah. All right, let's get into this big news from yesterday.

0

3024.007 - 3036.151 Unknown

The NBA's Board of Governors approved draft lottery reform on Thursday. The new rules were passed by a 29-1 vote with the Grizzlies. as the lone dissenters.

0

Chapter 6: What changes were made to the NBA draft lottery rules?

3036.311 - 3057.004 Unknown

We'll explain why in a second. I think they had a fair reason to vote for no. But the proposal chosen was dubbed the 3-2-1 model, and it includes the following changes. We've gone over some of this, but I think it's important for those trying to make sense of this new draft lottery. Okay, the lottery will feature... 37 total lottery balls allocated to 16 teams.

0

3057.385 - 3077.41 Unknown

And we have a great graphic here by our friends from The Athletic to sort of like wrap your head around it. Makes a little sense using records from this year. So the three worst teams in the league, they're going to get two ping pong balls. The next seven teams to miss the postseason each receive three. The number nine and number 10 seeds in each conference receive two.

0

3077.525 - 3102.992 Unknown

And the losers of the 7-8 play-in game receive one. A couple other rules here. All spots in the lottery will be drawn as opposed to just the top four. So we are drafting for all 16 slots. But the three worst teams in the NBA can pick no lower than number 12. But it is insane. This relegation zone where you get actually a fewer ping pong ball

0

3103.985 - 3127.078 Unknown

You could have the worst record in the league and be picking 12th is where we could be looking at here. Pretty insane. Teams can no longer pick number one in consecutive drafts, starting with this draft, and teams cannot pick in the top five of three consecutive drafts Backdated to the 2025 draft. Also, picks between number 12 and 15 cannot be protected in trades. That was a lot of information.

0

3127.278 - 3133.149 Unknown

A lot we already knew. Maybe some tweaks here and there, but they did vote for this, and we're going to see this next year.

Chapter 7: How will the new draft lottery rules affect teams like the Grizzlies?

3133.169 - 3138.299 Unknown

2027 draft. And we're going to watch it live. We've got to be watching it live.

0

3138.56 - 3140.243 Tass Millis

We're going to be watching it live.

0

3140.644 - 3168.787 Unknown

Can you imagine the person, the presenter presenting those lottery balls? Somebody fun can do that. I know we talked about it yesterday with the, as I call it, the geekify, to have everybody who knows... You wanted Hollinger, Windhorst, and maybe Kornacki and a Bobby Marks. Yeah, the experience that's been in that lottery room. And also people who know the numbers. That was a part of it.

0

3168.868 - 3189.525 Unknown

But as you brought up the numbers, somebody cool could present the amount of lottery balls. Not a magician, not a magician. That's what you did do. You did a very magician-like move. That's where my brain went. So it's my favorite magician, Valentino. You may not know who he is, but he taught me behind the scenes. What?

0

3189.545 - 3190.627 Tass Millis

Hold on, hold on.

3190.867 - 3215.144 Unknown

What do you mean he taught you behind the scenes? You get magic tricks from Valentino? No, Valentino was the guy who shows you how these tricks work on a documentary. Banish him? What is he doing? Well, he had to do what he had to do to make some money back. Don't have this guy. Whenever it was filmed. Either way, are we looking at the Grizzlies thing is interesting. Why they're so angry.

3215.284 - 3217.95 JD

Yeah. Because valid reason to vote against it. Yeah.

3218.01 - 3222.48 Unknown

Explain it. Go ahead. Well, as you said, you can't have top five pick in three years in a row.

3222.56 - 3222.741 JD

Yeah.

Chapter 8: What are the implications of the new draft lottery rules for the future?

3229.636 - 3250.25 Unknown

No, the thing is, it's because it's the Utah Jazz pick. So the Grizzlies cannot have a top five pick next season with the pick they own from the Utah Jazz through the Jaron Jackson trade. So they can't have somebody else's pick? Exactly, because the Jazz drafted fifth in 2025. They're picking second this year in 2026. So that's not the Grizzlies pick. It's not. I didn't say it was.

0

3250.27 - 3256.302 Unknown

I know, I know. But it's the pick they traded for, so it makes it even worse. That's what makes it frustrating, though. It's not their pick.

0
0

3257.003 - 3270.088 Unknown

They are essentially getting punished for Utah's tanking with the new rules. That's an insane decision by the league here. Yeah, John Hollingen talked to, I think, Evan Walsh at the league office, who basically explained, they're like, we talked about all this.

0

3270.068 - 3284.231 JD

Specifically this Memphis pick, and basically if they grandfather this pick and allow the Grizzlies to be able to draft high based on where the Jazz end up, that pick becomes the most valuable pick in the entire pick landscape out there.

3284.351 - 3301.779 Unknown

So that's unfair to every other team, not to mention if we throw out this, blah, blah, blah. There was a lot of rigmarole around it, but at least the way they explained it, you're like, that makes more sense than when you just realized that... The Grizzlies traded away a franchise cornerstone for a top five pick, and now they're not going to be able to use it.

3301.94 - 3309.372 JD

That seems brutal, but at least their explanation, I saw where they were coming from. I wouldn't be happy if I'm a Grizzlies fan.

3310.173 - 3316.343 Unknown

And guess what? This would not have been going through, I feel like, if this was a marquee franchise with this situation.

3316.323 - 3340.896 Unknown

all acres of celtics come on no way this is because it's the grizzlies are like shut up who cares whatever i said brutal that's brutal to me yeah yeah so weird they didn't need to do that i i get their explanation i'm with you tk but i don't know with that one i think they could have said okay they did trade for that when the rules were in place uh part of the jaron jackson trade uh who else are the big winners and losers from this in your opinion thunder and spurs
