My friend, which we refer to as Skinny K, mentioned that we should build pipe bombs.

Hello, welcome to the podcast. This is Not For Radio. We are your hosts, Duncan Hyde, Jay Reeve. I'm wearing one of the Country Trucker Cap Stonkers, the two flogs one. If you're watching the video, I know you're like, I wouldn't mind buying one of these. Well, you better head along to the two flogs website or get some custom ones made. These would be good for like any sporting events, you know, like if you need to find the tour leader or whatever. Or if you're a really greedy busker.
Jay Reeve 0:33
Or a really good one. The normal hat's just not cutting the mustard. I need a stonker. This thing's spilling over.
Duncan Hyde 0:41
We've got one of the longest war stories we've had in a long time. To start things off, it's about 10 minutes, but Jesus worth it. I've called it Scroterror. And that's exactly what it is. It's full on. I believe he's from America and his writing's just incredible. And speaking of incredible, we also have an incredible guest today. um from the show qi and um in the uk you would know alan davies he's been on there for 20 years the likes of stephen fry he's been basically on tv for the last 20 years and doing stand-up comedy and he's um was lucky enough um to be able to make some time in his schedule to scoot in and see us before he went to his first show i'm so glad that he did he is such an enjoyable chat and once again one of those things we talked to a lot of famous people when that's part of the job but
Jay Reeve 1:29
It's just a different kettle of fish when you have somebody that you really, really respect and want to actually meet hanging out in the studio with you. Holy fuck, it was cool.
Duncan Hyde 1:36
I was giggling like a schoolgirl.
Jay Reeve 1:39
Yeah, it is. You'll hear it. It's pathetic. 40-year-old blokes blushing. Who tells a funny story?
Unknown 1:47
Swaying drunks, not for cardio. What? I'm going to have a drop and I'll ask you to stay out of my personal business.
Duncan Hyde 1:56
This episode of Not For Raiders brought to you by the legions at Classic Builders. They've been building homes for Kiwis for over 30 years. We've got teams all over the country so you can get that national muscle. But with local tradies who actually know your patch.
Matt Clifford 2:09
Attention, snipers. Gear up and hold your positions. It's time to load up some war stories. Your tales from the front line brought to life. Prepare to fire.
Duncan Hyde 2:21
Buckle up. This is a McMillan Tac 50. David Longey from Pacco. The night I almost became my dad's insurance claim.

What is the outrageous “Scroterror” war story and how did it start?

Duncan Hyde 2:29
all right gather around because this one's got everything a cammed out mustang a brand new f-150 terrible decision making and a testicle doing things testicles are not supposed to do that's that's the genesis of a great story so picture it i'm 20 years old couple of years into college still living at my parents place because hey it was close to campus and free rent is free rent It's around 11, maybe midnight. Honestly, the whole night's a bit of a blur, probably because of what happens next. Not because I was drinking, I promise. My buddy texts me, wants to hang out, smoked a little. Great, normal Friday, except my car, a Mustang GT, fully cammed, long tube, head is the work. Sounds like a fucking jet engine having an argument with a chainsaw.
Duncan Hyde 3:15
Waking up the neighbours at midnight, not an option. So naturally, instead of just walking to my friend's place or... Literally anything sensible. I decided the smart move is to put the car in neutral and push it out of the garage myself, down the driveway, away from the house so I can start it without waking anyone up. A completely normal, well-adjusted 20-year-old plan. Now here's the scene. My dad's truck, brand new F-150, his pride and joy, the truck he loved more than several of his own children, presumably. And there I am walking backwards, steering a 3,400 pound Mustang with one hand through the open driver's window. Fuck, here we go. Like I'm some sort of car whisperer. Reader, I am not a car whisperer.
Duncan Hyde 4:01
The car starts drifting towards the truck. Now, any reasonable person at this point hops in the driver's seat and hits the brake.
