Chapter 1: What vintage technology is impacting Hollywood filmmakers today?
The hottest technology for Hollywood filmmakers is more than 70 years old. It's kind of like starting up a lawnmower. It's like... On The Sunday Story, what this vintage film format can help us understand about Hollywood's past and even its future. Listen now on the NPR app to The Sunday Story from the Up First podcast.
Live from NPR News, I'm Dale Willman. President Trump announced on Saturday that he's increasing his new temporary global tariffs from the 10 percent amount he announced on Friday to 15 percent. The action is in response to Friday's Supreme Court ruling that found he overstepped his authority last year when he set double-digit tariffs on most all imports into the U.S. NPR's Alina Selyuk reports.
President Trump made the latest announcement in a post on social media, once again deriding the Supreme Court ruling, saying it was, quote, "'ridiculous, poorly written, and extraordinarily anti-American.'"
The high court had ruled with a notable majority of six to three, including two justices appointed by Trump, and they had struck down Trump's use of an emergency statute for his tariffs, saying the president could not rely on it to impose taxes without specific authorization from Congress.
Trump quickly used another presidential authority to set a new universal tariff, which is limited to 150 days, unless extended by lawmakers, and he has vowed to find a way to set more. Alina Seljuk, NPR News, Washington.
The nation's Democratic governors boycotted a White House dinner Saturday night after the president banned Maryland Governor Wes Moore from the event. Moore is the nation's only black governor. Colorado Governor Jared Paulus was also not invited. The annual National Governors Association dinner is usually a bipartisan event.
Speaking at the dinner, Trump promised to help Utah's governor with low water levels that are now at the Great Salt Lake.
That is what I call a real environmental problem, not using hairspray and I'm going to ruin the ozone, okay? I'm in my apartment in Trump Tower, the building is totally sealed off, and if I use hairspray, they say, sir, you're creating an environmental hazard.
Trump also mocked the Democratic leadership of that organization. A major winter storm is set to hit the East Coast in a few hours, with heavy snow and gusting winds expected. Officials say power outages are also possible. The National Weather Service has issued blizzard warnings for parts of several states, from the Mid-Atlantic to the Northeast, and that includes New York City.

Chapter 2: What recent tariffs did President Trump announce and why?
Mayor Zoran Mamdani.
These have the potential to be even more hazardous conditions than we faced the last time around.
At least 19 people died on the streets of the city during January's cold snap. The mayor said caring for the homeless will be a priority in the days ahead.
Our focus is going to be utilizing every tool that we have to connecting homeless New Yorkers with a safe haven, with a shelter, with a warming bus.
The storm will have a major impact on air travel in the Northeast. Many airlines preemptively canceled hundreds of flights. For NPR News, I'm Steve Kastenbaum in New York.
And you're listening to NPR News. The Washington Post and other outlets are reporting that the Department of Homeland Security is temporarily suspending the TSA pre-check and global entry programs. They're both used during travel to reduce the time needed to make it through security screening.

Chapter 3: How did the Supreme Court ruling affect Trump's tariff authority?
DHS Secretary Christine Noem is blaming the action on a partial government shutdown that's now in its second week. Search teams have now recovered the bodies of nine backcountry skiers who died Tuesday during an avalanche in California's Tahoe National Forest. The body of one skier wasn't located until Friday night.
The recovery was slowed because the risk of another avalanche in the area was much too high. Figure skaters took to the Olympic ice one final time at Saturday's exhibition gala. There were no medals involved, but as NPR's Rachel Treisman reports, there were pandas.
The exhibition gala featured medalists, including Alyssa Liu, Madison Chalk, and Evan Bates of the U.S. Amber Glenn and Ilya Malinin also performed clean and emotional programs, ending on a high note after a bumpy Olympics. But the star of the show was Mikhail Shaidov of Kazakhstan, the men's gold medalist.
He skated to songs from the Kung Fu Panda movie, landing jumps and punches while wearing a panda suit. He was greeted off the ice by one of its voice actors, the legendary martial artist Jackie Chan. Rachel Treisman, NPR News, Milan.
Will Mazeroski has died. The Hall of Fame second baseman for the Pittsburgh Pirates was 89 years old. He won eight Golden Gloves awards with the Pirates, but he's best known for his historic walk-off home run in Game 7 of the 1960 World Series. I'm Dale Willman, NPR News.
